I just don't see State going 6-6. If they were to do that, they would have to lose all of their road games plus a couple at home. I think they'll split the home and away conference games and finish at 8-4. They could even do better than that though, but things have got to be going extremely well for that to happen and it very well could. If State somehow manages to upset either LSU or Bama, then going north of 8 wins for them is certainly attainable. Do I expect it? No, but that's why you have to play the games.

Are all of these jamboree games tonight? That West Point/Brandon matchup will definitely be worth watching and paying attention to even if it's not a full fledged football game.

If Heritage would have had some horses on offense, they could have made that game very interesting because it was only 9-0 at halftime.

Here's another line of thought. Will Hartfield play the potential MAIS champion in their classification during the regular season? If so, does Hartfield run the table and finish the season undefeated? Now if they lose some games it probably won't leave any controversy, but if they go undefeated and beat the team that goes on to win the MAIS championship or even the team that finishes runner-up, do they pull a UCF and claim one anyway?

I think the title of this thread could be misleading. Can they play football at all like they did last week or do they have to shut it down completely? If not, do they just have a playoff ban?

It just needs to be a permanent thing instead of a one hit wonder. As far as I'm concerned it should be the "ONLY" uniform. They just need to make the away version and boom, they're done.

The script State helmets are meh and the uniforms that go with them. What they unveiled today however, is not.

They certainly do, but so does The Tide. This is definitely a gauntlet of a non-region schedule that Picayune has to run, but the Maroon Tide is certainly more than capable of navigating it. When Coach Triplett won the ‘86 5A Title, Picayune got shutout by Moss Point and then Picayune turned around and beat them by a point to win South State. I think the point here is that Picayune needs to finish well, but also starting well is a great thing to be able to do and early season losses don’t have to be a detriment to a football team.

Just answer this one question for me and I'll let you have the last word on this. Who told you that Brandon doesn't stand a chance? Picayune is going to have to go up there and play a great ballgame and if they do that, then I have no concerns about this Maroon Tide football team win or lose.

And you probably have trouble envisioning them breaking into the top 4 in that region as well. In other words, things ain't getting much better there even if they can double their win total.

When we beat Starkville, we beat them in 2011 in Jackson for the 5A state title. I don't understand your philosophy of not counting wins when you beat a team. A win is a permanent thing and it's in the record books. A loss is a permanent thing and it's in the record books. Regardless of your goofy stance on that, Picayune looks forward to making the trip to Brandon to face your Bulldogs since Pearl apparently doesn't have a football team you can get behind.

For being a Pearl fan, you sure do sound like a Brandon fan (maybe you’re a fan of both). Just keep thinking #6 is all we have on offense, oh and yes Picayune has been to two back to back State Championships and won them both. Did Brandon win their state title appearances? Picayune is a combined 3-0 against Madison Central and Starkville. Picayune knows how to play and win in tough environments and yes, Brandon will be a challenge and Picayune will not take them lightly.
