  1. @Vott shouldn't y'all beat Petal like a drum, just like y'all did back in 1946 when y'all beat them 69-0? Isn't that the expectation?
  2. Shouldn't y'all run away with that one?
  3. Dub, I watched it too. I was equally impressed at the production quality of MRA’s livestream and it was an away game for them. That whole crew did a fantastic job.
  4. I completely agree with this. When you schedule a gauntlet for a non-region schedule, you do it to better your team. If losses do happen in that non-region gauntlet, then it's not a detriment at all. It's a learning experience and a chance to improve your weaknesses before the games really matter. Like you said, teams that do this are not concerned with overall wins and losses, but are concerned with post-season success where it truly does matter.
  5. This game went final. 48-25 in favor of MRA.
  6. Does Parklane have a field goal unit? They’ve wasted two valuable timeouts.
  7. This is 1000x better than that MHSAA abomination they had for the State Championships.
  8. If we can get through non-region play without significant injuries that will be a huge key to the playoff picture because that's really when our season starts. I just wish our district schedule wasn't so bland. I just hope we can stay focused for those 5 weeks and not get caught in a lull.
  9. I don't think Clarkdale is worried about Enterprise either LOL!
  10. It's weird how eerily accurate they get it once they get the algorithm right and like you said a few weeks into the season to get the kinks worked out, but yes the spread is usually on for the most part.
  11. I don't know who y'all play on the 25th, but you are more than welcome to come sit on the Maroon Tide side. The last time I went to Brandon was when they were at the old stadium and I remember the visitor side being on a cliff and you were like 2 feet from the field. Granted it wasn't as bad as Oak Grove's old stadium, but it was pretty sketchy though.
  12. neutral field [2023] Catholic (Baton Rouge, LA) 22 (53%), [2023] Picayune (MS) 21 (47%) This is probably going to be a great ball game. Picayune definitely has a chance since it's at home, but it's going to boil down to who makes the least amount of mistakes.
  13. Might as well fry some eggs too. Just don't forget to salt and pepper them. I guess that's Oak Grove cuisine at it's best.
  14. I think you're probably thinking about the calpreps project a matchup.
  15. Dub, since y'all play Wayne County on Thursday, August 24th that will free you up to travel on Friday. At least it'll be a shorter drive for you.
  16. If this is the case, Tupelo stands without excuses. Let's see what they are made of.
  17. Wayne County @ Oak Grove Laurel @ West Jones Those should be some classics right out the gate and yes our monster has already been mentioned.
  18. @SPTigerDad, without being biased (to the best of your ability) of course, do you think South Panola gets to make the trip to Hattiesburg this year, or do you think it could be someone else?
  19. Well sort of. Catholic out of Baton Rouge is a juggernaut over in their neck of the woods and you know what the Maroon Tide brings to the table, so it should be a great heavyweight bout.
  20. This may not fit the qualification of New Head Coach, which your title is so named, but it does fit the qualifications of the coach being in his first job and not at a new school. Cody Stogner is 37-4 after 3 completed football seasons with two state titles. That may be lightning in a bottle so to speak, but you'll be hard pressed to find greater success in that short of a time span for a "new coach".
  21. I think JJ and Stonka will wind up being like the football versions of TA and Rowdey.
  22. Dang it. I was hoping they would win a big game and bust out the cigars again.
  23. I hope he has a speedy recovery and I know he’s getting excellent care in ICU. I will be praying for him and the doctors.
  24. That’ll be a slobberknocker that favors Tulane since it’ll be in New Orleans. It’ll definitely be a real test for them.
