Merlin I feel like it's getting crunch time. Kickoff is just 3 weeks away. Picayune is going to have to hit the ground running and so is West Jones. If I had the ability to clone myself so that I could be in two places at one time, I'd like to be at y'alls 9/22 game at Poplarville because I think that will be a great ballgame. Unfortunately I don't have that ability and we play Ocean Springs at home that day so that will be another great one that I'm not going to miss. Hopefully this non-region gauntlet that Picayune has to navigate will help the team in the postseason.

It seems like it's a mixed bag with Vance. You never know what you're gonna get and that inconsistency factor is the one thing that's been consistent at Hattiesburg. The potential is there for Hattiesburg to be really good and maybe they will be, but when will things come together for them and how many more timeouts can he get this year throwing his shenanigans?

I don't know if you can gauge anything by it, but State has been impressive against these teams in Portugal. The Portugal teams may not be very good, but it's kind of refreshing to see the shooting by State. I feel like they'll be an exciting bunch to watch come November. I certainly don't think the extra practices and these games hurt anything at all. I think they'll help this team in the long run.

You're probably right Vott. Picayune isn't the same team that went to Pascagoula in 2020 on a Saturday at high noon and got beat. Neither is Pascagoula. There may be a wide gap there.

Yes this definitely changes the outlook for George County and I thought they were going to turn the corner for the better. West Harrison might wind up getting their very first playoff berth.

It almost sounds like some sort of bidding war (if that's the correct terminology to use), and so does that mean that George County and Gautier got outbid? This apparently has nothing to do with playing time because those players were integral parts of their football team.

I don't really know what all this stuff means and I guess it all ties back to the NIL stuff, but it just sounds like a slippery slope. I think we may be beginning to see some unintended consequences/trickle down effect of everything that's going on.

I honestly have no idea. Lorenzo must have implemented it back when he coached them for 1 season. But that was several years ago. If there's anything you want to know about the Wing-T, you don't have to go very far to ask.

I don’t know if that’s the case with the (now former) George County QB or not, but when these guys are key cogs within the football program that they depart from, it just seems business like. Well that absolutely sucks. Do they still have their RB Brandon Gautier? He was good, but I guess they need a few more pieces than him.

Why didn't the MHSAA make an exception and leave Noxubee in the north? I guess they wanted all the regions to be even, but even that philosophy is trash because region 2-7a and region 3-6a are both comprised of 5 teams. (Thank you Murrah and Jim Hill)

Exactly and I have no clue where that could happen. I guess that's why they are called upsets, but for some reason or another I just don't see it happening.

Here's another thing to consider: Region 3-6A probably won't be settled until the final weekend of the regular season. West Jones will travel to D.I. Patrick stadium to take on the Hattiesburg Tigers. If that particular ballgame doesn't decide the region 3-6A championship, then I don't know what will.

Hattiesburg will be 6A with us except they are region 3. I don't want Vott having a conniption with having to drop down to 5A so suddenly LOL! They don't need two Little Brown Jug games in one season.
