West jones best player, Kendorean russel done for year with torn acl. Played lb and some rb. Losing him is a huge hit to west jones.
-
Laurels offense woke up the last couple weeks and may be powerful enough to score and keep it close if west’s offense putters like it has at times in a couple games this year.
-
I think Hattiesburg can beat Wayne County. Especially that it seems Wayne is getting worn down and tired. Same goes for Laurel the following week. Regardless. The game between Laurel and Hattiesburg will decide who is in the playoffs and who is out between the two of them. I see no situation where both can make the playoffs. At least none that will happen (like Brookhaven loosing 2 of its last 3 games).

Brookhaven scored again. Was 34-14

Updated Region 3-5A standings: West Jones 4-0 (6-1 overall). Clinched Playoff Spot Wayne County 4-0 (6-2 overall with the losses being covid forfeits). Clinched Playoff Spot Laurel 3-1 (4-4 overall. 1 win via covid forfeit). Hattiesburg 3-1 (3-5 overall) Brookhaven 2-2 (4-4 overall) Natchez 0- 4 (3-5 overall) Eliminated from Playoff Contention South Jones 0-4 (2-5 overall) Eliminated from Playoff Contention Florence 0-4 (2-6 overall) Eliminated from Playoff Contention West Jones - On cruise control right now. Starting defense has allowed 27 points all season (all in the first game vs Madison Central). Overall opponents have scored a total of 36 points. Remaining games host Laurel, at Hattiesburg, at Wayne County. Wayne County - 2 consecutive struggle wins. But wins are wins. Remaining games host Hattiesburg, at Laurel, host West Jones. Laurel - despite being 3-1 in division they are in a precarious spot. Remaining schedule is brutal. At West Jones, Host Wayne County, Host Hattiesburg. The loss is to Brookhaven. They hope to avoid any sort of record tie with Brookhaven and Hattiesburg. Hattiesburg - same situation as Laurel. The remaining games are at Wayne County, host West Jones then then at Laurel. They would like to avoid any sort of 3-way record tie with Laurel and Brookhaven. Brookhaven - In a better spot than the record suggests. Easiest schedule in the district coming up (host Florence, host South Jones, at Natchez). Holds all the tie breakers currently against both Laurel and Hattiesburg. They are in the playoffs if they win out. Might even be able to lose a game and still get in. Natchez - HAHAHAHAHAHA. Biggest pre-season trash talkers in the state now see their season end with 3 weeks left. South Jones - looking forward to playing Florence Florence - Please make the hurting stop.

Hey got, Deontae, you know that revenge ya’ll wanted on west jones since 2018. You ain’t getting it this year either. lol

Region 3-5A standings: West Jones 3-0 (5-1 overall) Wayne County 3-0 (5-1 overall with loss being covid forfeit) Hattiesburg 3-0 (3-4 overall) Laurel 2-1 (3-4 overall. beat florence in division via covid forfeit by florence) Brookhaven 1-2 (3-4 overall) Natchez 0-3 (3-4 overall) South Jones 0-3 (2-4 overall) Florence 0-3 (1-5 overall) West Jones clinches playoff spot with a 1 win from here on out. They play Florence next week. Win that they will have wins over Florence, South Jones, Natchez, and Brookhaven. Basically all 4 of the teams that could hope to steal a playoff spot if any of them win out. Wayne County can clinch playoff spot with a single win from here on out. They got Natchez next. Still Laurel, Hattiesburg, and West Jones to go after that. Hattiesburg can clinch playoff spot with a single win from here on out. They already played Natchez, south jones and florence. Their schedule gets a lot more daunting from here on out. They got Brookhaven next. Laurel needs 2 wins to clinch a playoff spot. They got South Jones next but having lost to Brookhaven puts them in must win situation against any 1 of West Jones, Wayne County and Hattiesburg, who they play in that order to finish the season. Lose any 2 of those and they are probably sitting at home come playoff time. Brookhaven, despite having a worse record in division currently than Laurel, have an easier path the playoffs. They still havn't played Florence, South Jones, Hattiesburg, or Natchez. If they win 3 of those they can get in and probably knock Laurel out. Or at least force a set of tie-breakers that currently probably favors them. Natchez, with losses to Laurel, West Jones and Hattiesburg already, they can still make the playoffs if they win out. Lose next week to Wayne County they are eliminated from playoff contention. South Jones must win out to get into the playoffs. Any one loss they are done. They still have to play Wayne County, Laurel, Brookhaven and Natchez. All of whom are fighting for playoff lives. Florence, like South Jones, must win out to make the playoffs. And will also need some help from some others.

Laurel beat Natchez 52-26. May have just saved Laurel's season. While basically ending natchez's.

So west did start subbing early. Rotating the entire offense every 2 plays there a couple drives. There was some trash talking between players. Got a little choppy at times. Final looks to be 41-7. The last 9 points west gave up is from a 10th grade 3rd string center sending the ball over the qp/punters head. First led to safety against northeast jones. 2nd a blocked punt into endzone for South Jones to recover for TD
-
Poop. West jones shutout streak ends when the 3rd string snapper sends bad snap to punter and it got blocked allowing south jones to score.
-
SSSHHHHH!!!!!! Don’t want all those fans that never stepped foot on that campus or cheered for the school before this year to come in here.
-
West jones 27 sourh jones 0 halftime. Was almost 34-0 but sometimes the ball gets fumbled at the 1
-
Laurel 38 Natchez 20 halftume.
-
Natchez 14 laurel 8 in 1st
-
Picayune 0 east central 0. end 1.
-
West jones up on south jones 20-0 still first q. West even fumbled the ball away on the 1 one drive.
-
someone from Sj photoshopped a picture of the Wj qb’s face onto a picture of a slave and posted it to Facebook.
-
Oh wow. West jones coach doesn’t typically try to run the score up on anyone and will start subbing with a 20 pint lead or more at the half. But do not be surprised if they hang 70-80 on south jones tonight. Some ticked off people right now.

Some certain fans keeping out of the football program's business would help them keep coaches as well.

Most of the GCS fans on that facebook group are lacking a lot of brain cells. The vast majority of them never gave a crap about that school before this year and likely have still never sat foot on campus. After this season that school may not have enough players to field a team again. If the other private schools in the state start throwing out free tuition to lure players over what would happen. What if Laurel Christian School started up football, played on the Jones Junior College Campus, and recruited who they wanted from West Jones, Laurel, Northeast Jones, and South Jones. Go get some from Bay Springs, Stringer, Taylorsville, and Collins while they are at it. Half of West Jones coaching staff is at or a year or two from being able to retire. So take them all to coach the new team. Lets see what happens. -
And I have seen some home cooking over in Waynesboro as well. I'm sure picayune fans remember 2006 fairly well. For that matter, can throw Laurel into that conversation. And any time a pine belt school is down playing on the coast.
-
Till his son graduates. He is in 8th grade now I think. He wants to coach him till he graduates then I expect Breland will retire as he has his time in.
-
Brookhaven is huge. Some large kids. But seems like their strength and conditioning is a bit lacking.
-
Yeah. There is a lot of ya-ya going on with their fans about that. Apparently these kids left school to go to the barber to get their hair cut. Something they do every Friday when their classes are over and return before the football team meets up to leave for away games or have pre-game meetings or whatever. And for some reason or another the coach benched them because they missed something. Can't get a straight answer on it. Doubt I will either. They are making it out to be political. Regardless. If Laurel can manage to beat them next week, then Wayne County, may end some of their trash talking for this season.

NEJ had no less than 15 yards of penalties on every quitman offensive scoring drive. With 30 on one and 40 on another. 30 yards on one play near the end.
