  1. So is your 3 down linemen defense. If petal quit trying to go up top every 3rd play and keep running up middle where the are averaging like 6-7 yards a carry, the score would look a lot different.
  2. West jones has a few weeks of scrimmages before playing anyone with a pulse. Laurel is most likely winning 5A south.
  3. WJ takes it 24-16. Laurel got td with 21 seconds left. I’m not real happy with west jones offense. Not Gona lie.
  4. West jones 24 Laurel 16 21 seconds left. Onside kick incoming.
  5. West jones 24 Laurel 8. 3:30 left wj stripped ball from laurel wr at 50 and took it to the house.
  6. Best offensive play by either team all game.
  7. Wj 10 Laurel 8 11:54 left in game.
  8. West Jones 10 Laurel 2 end 3. Laurel has ball on Wj 3.
  9. End 3 still 10-2. Laurel on the wj3.
  10. Look up “Rudy&jb” on facebook
  11. Laurel huge on both lines. Their o line stands up at the snap. They get no push. Could be credit to WJ d line. They have had zero success with normal running plays. Only time they move ball is 15+ yard throws that get caught (twice) or pass interference on WJ (2 or 3) or the qb takes off running after west secondary is 20 yards down field covering receivers. Their qb is fast. west has lost 3 yards every first down. Laurel sending 7-8 every play covering wests wr’s man coverage only. Daring wests 9th grade qb to throw. He has only thrown more than 8 yards twice so far one caught laurel for interference on the laurel 5 (horse collared the wr before he got u set ball in endzone). Wj had no running success in first q with TV’s but instead on designed qb keepers. Wj started to get yards running in 2nd with rb’s. Laurel totally abandoned running in 2nd. Everything is pass with qb keeping it after 2-3 seconds of not finding receiver. Laurels points came after West picked off laurel on the west 1. Then a handoff around the end was stopped in the endzone. 10-2 west at the half.
  12. West Jones 10 Lsurel 2. wj picked laurel off on the wj1. Then gave up safety on a stuffed run.
  13. West has some big kids. Bigger than typical for west. Laurel is huge.
  14. Wayne does t look like they hit the weight room all that much. I do t see any of the physicality from them I am used to seeing. Unless oak grove is just that much better on all fronts. The last time I saw WC get handled like this was 2010 vs west jones. It’s also the only time I have seen them get handled like this.
  15. I would not bet on Northeast jones beating Collins. Hearing nej going to be very bad this year.
  16. Dont get me wrong. The homer in me says Wj takes it 27-10. i think it’s Gona shock some teams when Wj trots out there with all but 1starter on offense being over 6’1 and the entire o line being 260+. And 7 on defense being over 6’2 with the entire d line going 250+. And I’m being modest vs the numbers I have actually been told. Thus should be the most physically imposing team Wj has fielded in a long while. The rb’s last year were 9th and 10 grade. Both had fumble issues last season. The injury to the sophomore vs laurel ended his season. If the coaches fixed the fumble issues then biggest hurdle will be the maturity of the 9th grade qb I don’t think there is a team on their schedule than an score more than 14 on that defense
  17. could be a defensive battle. WJ qb may be a work in process but with the talent they have on the line and being healthy at RB (best one knocked out for season in first q vs laurel last year) it’s possible they just run it down laurels throat with that 6’2”+ 220lb rb they got. Laurel also lost a lot more than WJ did from last year.
  18. West Jones LB Rase Jones. Played some RB last year when injuries knocked out the main 2 backs.
  19. Im cautiously excited. We bring all the big players on defense and kept the coaching staff for that side of the ball intact so I’m not worried about that. And word is we are 2 deep at most positions on defense without any real drop off except middle LB. On offense I’m told the line will be better than last year and last year was good. We struggled running the ball as both young rb’s were prone to fumble. But both are a year older, experienced, and coaches been working with them on handling the ball. And we have a different offensive philosophy with new head coach, new o coord (was o line coach at oak grove) and new o line coach (was at petal before this year). And a 9th grade qb. So I am tempering expectations on offense. Was told before school let out last year our o line was 6’2 to 6’4 and 260+ across the board. So I expend us to run a lot.
  20. I’m hearing that we got several very good 9th and 10th graders and west is expected to be stacked for the next 3 to 4 years at least. We will have several sophomores in key spots this year. Our qb on the varsity team last year as 8th grader.
  21. Maybe. Or maybe they end up surprisingly running over people this year. I think for sure instead of passing to open the run like in years past this team is built to run first to open up the pass.
