  1. It definitely allows more schools in the playoffs, but it certainly doesn't make schools more competitive.

  3. I've went back and forth the last few months on what to do to at least keep the memory of my friend alive on here. If it wasn't for this site I would have never known Patrick along with many more over the years. I have been half catch myself waiting to get word from him on how this or that would play out as the season has gotten ready to be kicked off. Tib, myself and a core of about 20-30 people kept this site from being thrown in the trash heap of failed message boards as the years progressed through the 2000s. He butted heads with some but he was a fair person and could let things go in order to move forward. Not a word from certain people has been put in recognition of him by some that have been on here as long as we were and some that haven't been here as long but have acted like they built this site. Hell oldtiger was pinned to the top and grieved there for I don't remember how many years. I'm not lessening his presence on here either but Tib cast just as big a shadow as that. I will even be more frank I think there is a certain one that still holds a grudge against him because Tib proved him wrong in front of us all and he couldn't take it. When I tried to make the peace and get said "person" to meet him halfway to get Tib back on here they flat out refused. Tib was absent from here for a long time behind that but he finally came back at the behest of several of us and this place was better off for it. Tib always resented that situation and honestly so do I with the way it was handled. It was as wrong then as it is now. This site has gotten less and less traffic in the last fifteen years. We are not a family anymore. I will leave everyone to come up with their own reason for why. I know why and no one will convince me otherwise. I don't know how long this will stay up because of what I said above but I really don't care. He would have said it for me. I feel like I could look over my shoulder right now and he would be nodding his head yes. I miss you on this Friday old friend. I know you would be bugging me this morning about going to stand in the rain with you tonight.

  4. I live in poverty. My car may not start in the morning. The roof is leaking at the back of my house. No computer in my house. Oh look some one is going to give me 7000 dollars. What does anyone really think is going to happen with that money ? This thing is DOA

  5. Having seen Wayne County this year I can say two things. 1. The athletes to be successful are there right now. Not including the ones who were run off, quit, or decided not to play the past few years. 2. Facilities are great and easily among the top in 5A, if not the state. This has potential to be a really, really good job. The right coach, will have them competing for state championships year in and year out.

  6. I think as the season wore on I wasn't right about any the finalists in 7,6 or 5A and how it would play out. These new classes have really blurred the lines. In person I thought WC and Laurel matched up with Brookhaven size wise. Tonight they looked much bigger than WP and basically just pushed WP around as the game wore on. Brookhaven coach had them ready. Good job . They left no doubt.

  7. I have a perfect solution. Haha. We can have a PowerPoint system and have a losers bracket champion and have 14 championship games.

  8. The “top tier” (largest classification of schools) will always feature a huge disparity. The schools at the bottom of that heap (currently 7A) will statistically fit better and compete more strongly with the classification under them. But, I don’t know that there is a good solution. MS is not large enough for 7 classifications.

  9. Lebby is in good shape. Emotions just need to settle down some. This mentality of discarding coaches after a single loss or even a win is just mind boggling. And we might see coaches staying put rather than jumping from the frying pan into the fire. If I have a good gig, why I am I going to leave that for FL or LSU where I going to be set up for failure.

  13. I look for OG to come out and play as if they were 2-0. If you cant get fired up about playing your crosstown opponent, then something is for sure wrong. If I dont see a packed visitors side that tells me the fans have already given up on them. Despite 0-2 the main goal is still in front of them.

  14. Mississippi doesn't even have enough high schools for 6 classes much less 7. And no matter how many you have, no more than half should make the playoffs. When 4 out of 6 division teams make the playoffs, it becomes like a trophy for everyone. Ridiculous!

  15. Believe it or not, some schools don’t have to recruit. Tupelo is one of those schools. Let’s be honest, Tupelo recruits itself. They have all the resources in that area. Numerous kids are going off to play college ball. Great academics!!! Top notch facilities with good coaches and a ton of support from the administration and community. Families move to Tupelo or they send their kids there by using a relative address. My family moved to Tupelo from the Delta because we had better resources and opportunities.

  16. Stopped by practice yesterday it looks like Lampley has his numbers up. Also looked like some of the big boys that have been walking the hallways not playing decided to play. The practice was full of energy and well organized no signs of the wing T lol. Not saying all is well in WC this is his first year but I do believe they made a great decision.

  17. I guess I never really put a welcome out to Pound . I was too busy dancing over the carcass of Bubba Hathorne whic h I have to admit it's mighty good. Nobody loves WC more than Tracey. There was most certainly those who had better resumes but as far as deserving the chance to be the next head coach it was Pound or Kat who has his eye set on bigger things than HC of football, proud for you Kat . With that said there is a lot of doubt surrounding Lampley but that has always been lurking around him. People telling him couldn't do something fuels him like nothing else. So don't be surprised when he knocks it out of the park. It's his show now and one could say what's going to be different than his last staff positions . Tracey has always been about leadership and being a team player, It will be interesting to see how he approaches being out front now. The one thing I can say about him on that field is when called upon he was always right there and he never, ever missed the mark . He wanted the ball in his hands when it was all on the line. There's no need in going through the results most everyone knows them. So here is where I stand on it. Tracy is my man at WC now. I'm going to roll with him and let the chips fall where they may. The ball is in his hands again now just in a different way. Welcome back Pound. It's been way too long.

  22. Based on the region they are in they will win it every year which pretty much guarantees them a north half appearance. i could probably find a way to win 10 games at West Point and in the words of Forest Gump….. “I’m not a very smart man”. Who’s going to challenge them in the North? Cleveland - too soft Holmes - too “spread” Lafayette - too wh… I mean slow

  23. I’m not one to doomcast people into the transfer portal…. But if for some reason Josh Hubbard decides he wants to play for an upper tier team in his last year, look no further than last night for a big reason why. Hubbard scored 31, no other State player was in double figures, and they lost by 9 at home. I’m still someone who thinks pretty highly of Jans, but man what on earth happened with the construction of this team. It’s Hubbard and a bunch of dudes who simply are not very good basketball players.

  25. How do we know the private schools do better than the public schools. What data can we point to to make that claim? I ask private school supporters what accountability model do the private schools use? Most of them don't know what I am talking about. lol I have no problem with private schools, however most of them were/are just segregation academies that just spit baseless rhetoric to justify separating their kids from the public schools. Thats your right as well but you don't get taxpayer money to pay for it. Fund it with your private money. How is that not logical? We don't like welfare in the country unless its welfare that benefits the people that already have the means. Thats backwards. Then they want the money with none of the oversight or policy. BS. I do agree that change needs to happen in public schools. The testing is a real and big issue. They need less oversight as well to allow schools to cater more to their communities and stakeholders. Thats the power of the citizens though. We could get it done but we can't if we just gonna walk away and point fingers. The public school system is the powerhouse of the country. Instead of us wanting to fix it, we want to strip it of all its resources and take it back to our friends and those around us who would benefit. We don't care about the society as a whole. Thats my issue. Come together and force the powers that be to make the schools work for us. But I will never agree to this... never. ITs just more rich people welfare and a guise to benefit those who already have the means.

  30. Arnett and Lebby are two different universes as far as State is concerned. Leaving emotions aside after getting beat by your rival, this is my take on this year. The 4-0 start including the big win over Arizona State gave the team confidence and we were clearly better than last year (albeit with some weaknesses). The Tennessee game let us know that we could compete with the better SEC teams even though we lost it in OT. But it was small chip in the armor. The Florida game was a big crack in the armor of our confidence though I put that more on the HC for a poor play call at the end. The Texas game finished us off. Here we play our best three quarters of the season only to see it unravel in the fourth quarter. One costly penalty (late hit on Arch) cost us that game and the season for all practical purposes. Our mental confidence was gone. All the good vibes from September had evaporated. Yes we beat Arkansas but that was more about them self destructing than anything else. Then these last three games, we got whipped across the board. In summation I give this season a C. Three more wins than last year. A big win over Arizona State. Three very competitive losses against quality SEC teams. But there is a lot of work ahead to move the needle upward. OL & DL need serious overhauls. With Taylor at QB, we have a chance to build a great offense around him. The defense had some bright spots this year but in these recent games our run defense has been porous. I don’t think the coaching has necessarily been bad but you have to have quality players to execute any defense. One last word on yesterday. Ole Miss was the team that had the perfect balance between confidence and execution. They made the big plays at the right time. We played hard but our confidence was not in sync with our execution. They were the better team. KT did some good things and the future is bright there. But we have got to build around him to make it happen. And if Kiffin leaves, karma is going to bite him in the butt. He has a good thing and he is going to leave to go to a cess pool?

  37. The best team Wesson has played this season is Franklin County. Their opponents have a combined record of 33-64. Everybody Mize has played is still playing in the 2nd round of the playoffs except for Enterprise Clarke. Mize will be the best team Wesson has played all season. That doesn’t mean Wesson still won’t win. But it won’t be a blowout.

  40. Kemper facebook page says 4 pm kickoff. If you around Jackson metro like myself they are those that are still wearing the mask even in their cars. You have to walk 20 feet them in Walmart. Stupidity is Stupidity if you want to keep breathing in your own carbon dioxide causing health issues. Either way Heidelberg apparently has a reduced fan support plan in place. None of us control what decisions school boards, superintendents, principals will make in the future for specific events. If they don't want my 8 bucks then so be it.

  41. No I blame it all on Heidelberg. That was only place where it happened on school property.

  42. No, you assumed that and associated that all by yourself. When you bring alcohol to a party, the chance of violence increases. When you mix weed and alcohol together, it increases even more. The fact a school allowed that on campus, is really mind blowing to be honest. Sounds like you are wanting to defend the party, and I don’t think that’s good. By all means go throw a party on private property somewhere and smoke and drink all you want. But not at a school.
