State women did just what I expected. Beat LSU and then almost lose to a terrible Kentucky team.

The operative word being “almost” as they did persevered in OT and also the game was played in Rupp Arena.

That had to be cool deal for the State women especially since we eeked out a win in OT.

Really big game @A&M Sunday. Need to win there to stay in upper quadrant of the conference.

State and ole miss women both escaped ugly games. Granted both were on the road but still.

The Ole Miss game was one of the ugliest games of basketball I’ve had the misfortune of seeing. Somewhere in the ball park of 45 turnovers between the 2 teams. Ole Miss managed 3 assists for the game. They were lucky to escape with the win. Coach Yo may want to focus less on clapping back on Twitter and more on putting a consistently good product on the court.

But despite the poor play both teams won and it’s very possible that we go to a showdown in Oxford in a few weeks with both teams 8-3 in conference play. Ole Miss is currently 6-2 but play South Carolina Sunday so that’ll be the 3rd loss for them. State is 5-3 but should be favored in their next 3 games. Both teams play Texas A and M who should be a winnable game for both the Lady Rebs and Dawgs but also would be the only team that I could see either losing to over the next few weeks. A and M has been streaky and played some top 25 teams tough.

Given the hiccups that LSU has had, it’s very possible that Ole Miss or State finishes second in the SEC this year. There’s no room for error but definitely not something that anyone would think was possible at the beginning of the year.

That would be cool to see the ladies square off at 8-3 with an excellent chance for the winner to finish second in the conference and potentially be in position for a deep NCAAT run.

Here we go again with the State men. Another opportunity to snag a road win in a winnable game. Yes Alabama is good but they are not invincible. We have got to be tough around the rim, make some outside shots, protect the ball and most importantly make FREE THROWS.
Of course I am not asking for much either…LOL

Big game for Ole Miss at home against Auburn. Definitely need to protect the home court.

I have no idea on State-Bama. Could see Bama winning by 20+, could see State playing well and getting their first road win. Or anything in between.

I expect Auburn-Ole Miss to be close one way or another. In Oxford it feels like a total toss up. I think Auburn is better but that doesn’t always matter.

First half lead for Ole Miss was 13, it's too bad second halves had to be played. Auburn dominated the second half today.

This loss won't really hurt Ole Miss's NCAAT hopes, but it sure would have been a great resume builder to seal any doubts and get a better seed.

Losing at home isn’t great for the NET regardless of how good the team is, but I agree it shouldn’t be too damaging overall.

State on the verge of getting boat-raced in Tuscaloosa. If your offense doesn’t come to play against Bama you have no chance. And State currently has a dozen turnovers and zero made threes right before half.

State's going to need an Auburn second half turnaround to get into this game.

Nah this just isn’t a good road team. The Ole Miss game is the only one they’ve kinda played decent in. I expect them to break the road steak next weekend at Mizzou but it hasn’t been kind to them so far.

Well, one didn’t play at all. Sick.

Didn’t realize that, though I guess my observation was lumping the last two games together. Wasn’t impressed by either of them against State, and obviously today didn’t go great either, at least defensively.

The bigger concern for State may be this DJ Jeffries injury. If it’s anything significant that’s a big problem. This team does not have much depth right now.

Which is disappointing because coming into the season the depth of this team seemed to be a great strength. And early in the season Jans was playing 10+ guys each game. Hopefully the injury is not too serious though.

Reb, it is a disappointing day in that Ole Miss was not able to sustain the lead they built in the first half and the fact that State was not competitive at Bama.

Neither will be hurt too bad in the NET but each team missed an opportunity to score some NET points.

Taylor quit the team  Murphy got mad and went home and only recently came back, Fort has been inconsistent and now hurt, Chol and Scott aren’t SEC ready right now, if ever. Even Bell has struggled in SEC play.

I will admit to being wrong on this team’s depth. It’s basically just last year’s team plus Hubbard. And the guys from last year haven’t really improved.

State just really needs to be careful the next couple of weeks. They’re inching back closer to the bubble. Margin for error has been used up. Time to start stacking W’s.

For Ole Miss, the next week might be a challenge with trips to SC and Kentucky. If you can steal one that’s great. If not, it’s kinda like State this week, every loss just shrinks the margin for error a little bit more.

So at the midway point, there are seven SEC teams over .500 in conference play.

State has played ALL SEVEN OF THEM in their first nine games. And has played first place Alabama twice.

I knew at the beginning of the year it was a tough opening schedule… it ended up being even worse than I thought.
