State’s men still a ways out on Lunardi’s latest bracket, I’m assuming largely due to the 3-7 SEC record. Goes without saying that they’ll need 5 or 6 wins out of the last 8 and potentially a win or two in the SEC Tourney.

State doesn't even show up on it, but all that matters is how they finish.  If they can finish strong and do something in the SEC tourney then let's see where the cards fall.

No surprise there. We will have to continue to win and if we do that it will take care of itself.
SOS is very good but that only helps to a point. Because if you do not win some of those games, it really does not matter at all.

The FL loss at home is really hurting us right now even though they have a good team.
We are going to have to win a road game (Missouri?) to kind of even that one out.

But at least we are trending in the right direction.

For all their flaws, Ole Miss hasn’t laid down and quit to this point. Which is what basically happened in Kennedy’s last year. They’ve lost a bunch of games but they’ve been competitive and most. And should get another win Saturday with South Carolina coming to Oxford.

any Calipari to Texas smoke?

Wouldn’t rule it out, the natives are restless in Lexington. Could be a mutual parting of ways type thing. Losing to St. Peter’s in the tourney and then following it up with what’s so far been a pretty lackluster season for them is definitely not a positive trend for them. He started off by going to the Final Four in like 4 of his first 6 years but now hasn’t been to one since 2015.

Hey Dawg83 check your messages.  I sent you a PM on Monday.

State and LSU set basketball back about 80 years in the first half. State scored 10 points in the first minute and then 9 points in the last minute and then in the other 18 minutes scored 6 points. Ugggghhhh.
But LSU was so horrid that after all that they were still losing by 3 points at the half.
I mean that was BAD HALF OF BASKETBALL.

Second half a bit better so far. State up by 8 (36-30 with 12 minutes to go. But still just poor basketball.

MSU on a 4 game winning streak, LSU has lost 11 in a row.

LSU hosts South Carolina and travels to Ole Miss for 2 of the last 7 games. Those are the best "winnable" games "on paper" for LSU.

MSU is trending the right direction and I think they're a legit conversation for an NIT bid with an NCAAT bid still on the table.

It was a slow conference start for MSU, but the first year coach is putting things together. Kudos

We’ll see what happens in Fayetteville on Saturday, not expecting a State win but who knows. The Kentucky game at The Hump next week will be massive, though. And then have to follow that up by winning in Oxford, which would be the first season sweep for State since 2011, so certainly not a given.

Winning in Oxford is going to be very difficult. Ole Miss still has a good team that is very capable. Plus it is a rivalry game so the records mean absolutely zilch. But before that game there are two very important games to play.

I am interested to see how we fare at Arkansas. They are coming off a huge win at Kentucky. Some times it is hard to sustain that kind of effort two games in a row. The biggest key for State is to make some outside shots and hit our free throws. We are solid every where else but three point shooting/FT shooting have been inconsistent at best. I know they have a great crowd but I think we have a veteran team that can play through the crowd effectively. Big game for State.

Last night was one of those games that you are glad to win and get out of the gym. Anytime a team is on a long losing streak, it is worrisome because they are going to eventually beat someone.

Going to be making my first trip to The Pavilion next Saturday for State-OM. Never been to a game in that arena before, my only previous basketball watching in Oxford was in the rat’s nest known as the Tad Pad.

I apologize if I offended any rats with that last comment.

Wow, outstanding win for State in Fayetteville. Puts them firmly in the NCAAT discussion. Should be a massive crowd for the Kentucky game on Wednesday and I expect a big MSU contingent in Oxford next Saturday.

Ole Miss lost at home to South Carolina….. Yiiiiikes.
