ccbulldog
lost tonight 22-6 to Quitman at home. They are as bad as they were before Boyles got there last year.

Bulldogs4
Did not get to the game and I am glad. I have a relative who is an official and he told me that Meridian looked worse than bad last Friday against Hattiesburg in a scrimmage. Losing Boyles after only one season was a disaster as we were already in a precarious situation anyway.
Merlin
Sadly for meridian, with the city population decreasing at the rate it is, it’s going to be very difficult for them to get back to where they were 2004-2009. Middle to bottom of district will likely be their new normal
Rebel Bert
Maybe they get better when they drop to 6A/5A.

I think there are several schools that are in similar situations. How far they drop remains to be seen but they will find it very hard to have that format glory long term, just some flashes here and there. Eagleman1228
Unfortunately Meridian has been on the downturn post Katrina. Has turned into a mini Jackson. Bad leadership with the mayors office and especially city council. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them drop to 6a in the future. People are moving away in droves. I think if they drop to R3 6A certainly they can beat Forest Hill and Jim Hill and make the playoffs every year. If not then their just another Moss Point. But Meridian could beat forest hill and pearl River central
ccbulldog
I hate to say it but Meridian is turning into a basketball school like the Jackson city schools.

ccbulldog
The fact that Marcus Boyles got them in the playoffs last year & beat top seed Ocean Springs on the road is even more proof to me that he is one of the beast coaches in this state, in the past couple of decades. A beast coach? I reckon that’s appropriate?

If Marcus boyles thought they were going to be VERY TALENTED next year at Meridian… he wouldn’t be at petal. He’s a talent chaser. Coincidentally petal has talent coming up in the 8/9/10 grades. It don’t take a genius to figure this guy out.
Bulldogs4
Actually other than Hill (who was a generational talent), Meridian had a fairly young team last year. Obviously you don’t replace him but had Boyles remained here, I think we would have had better squad on the field last week. We did beat Biloxi tonight, who is obviously really bad this year. Boyles did not leave Meridian for Petal because of talent. He left because of more dough in his pocket.
