Very good baseball player. I just PM’ed dub cuz I didn’t wanna derail the thread but his cousin just told me he’s only expected to miss two games. Said he just text his mom and would let me know what she said. His cousin said he’s being heavily looked at by Tulane for both sports.

I’ll disagree on the undefeated because I’m not pulling for them against Hattiesburg. But to be clear I am not falling for the WJ having a set back kinda year it’s all b.s. I expect them to fully cap off last year.

I’m just saying now that WJ will likely be better in 25 and 26 than this season.  Absolutely loaded 9th and 10th grade classes.

Believe me he knows. We all know. Anytime we think Hattiesburg is going to beat OG it’s not because we think they will have a down year it’s how good we THINK we are.

I get it and that belief is definitely highly warranted, but let’s see how things shake out.  If Hattiesburg self implodes there’s not really any built in stop checks to prevent that from happening, but can they avoid the historical temptation of hitting the self implode button.  If they do that, they give themselves a shot. (Along with anyone else.)

Nobody mention how we was Bang up last 2-3 years didn't have a Qb in some crucial games like in 2022 @ Petal we had the lead til our Qbs got hurt @ OG our 3 string Qb started all night. 2021 Petal and OG same results no starting Qb @Laurel our QB got hurt in 1st Qtr made a RB a Qb blowout score 50-0..then  in the playoffs lost to Picayune we made player a QB in 1 week who never had snaps all year close game at half. We still coming. future looking bright 4 us especially our 9th grade class. OG we might get yall Qb next year. U have to realized we broke in a 9th grader to Qb 2021. We just have to stay healthy no excuses.

A QB leaving OG to go to Hattiesburg is a hilarious thought. 3 of the last 4 OG QBs have gone on to play D1 level football. What QBs has Coach Vance actually developed?

I know you can’t place much on scrimmages.  But laurel live streamed theirs yesterday.  They didn’t look all that. All off season kept hearing that Laurel returns most of the team.  Very obvious graduation hit them hard on both lines, rb and qb. That online was ran around or through. They looked slow off the ball and like they missed a few days in the weight room.  Qb just throws the ball up with a prayer that someone on his team catches it.  The only bright spot was the LB’s.

If we’re being honest what has Coach Vance really done at Hattiesburg? Sure he’s made the playoffs a few times. The one team he had that should have played for the title was defeated I believe at home by West Jones. There’s a lot of talent at HHS I’m not saying that and I’m not saying Vance can’t coach. But so far he hasn’t found the success I thought he might when coming there from Charleston.

I always refer to Hattiesburg as the south’s Holmes County. Always loaded with talent but just can’t ever seem to live up to the preseason hype.

"defeated" is putting it nicely. That 2018 Snoop Connor led Hattiesburg team came in 12-0, ranked #1.

It ended up being 37-14. Hattiesburg is better overall since Vance arrived, but I think the differences

between 2A 3A ball verses 5A 6A can't be overlooked. In 2A 3A, you can go further with a couple of outstanding

athletes that the other teams just don't have an can't stop. In 6A, got to game plan, coach, and be able to 

make half time adjustments.

I have to ask who you got from WC? The only receiver we lost transferred to Wayne Academy. They brought all the DBs back they were at meet the Eagles the other night. I’m not calling you a liar it could have been someone that didn’t start maybe should have lol.

He was medically cleared to play today but has to sit until week three because apparently MHSAA rules says you have to have so many practices in pads before playing in a game.

Coach Vance is a great coach. His staff is also very good. They haven’t lost because of culture. They’ve lost because they aren’t used to winning.

I can agree Hattiesburg been Hattiesburg before Coach Merchant days with talent, high hopes and a great fan base.
