Well Hattiesburg starts with Petal and Laurel at home.  I'd like to think Hattiesburg would be favored in those ballgames.  Even if they are not, they are still winnable games for Hattiesburg.  The two toughest games on Hattiesburg's schedule are Week 3 at Oak Grove and the last week of the regular season at West Jones.  If Hattiesburg takes care of Petal and Laurel, it puts them at 8-2 at the absolute worst, but I can also see why you've got the 6 wins as the floor.

If you are going to end the season, might as well do it early. LOL. I expect Hattiesburg to make a deep run in the playoffs with the talent they are bringing back. If Vance wants to get it done, this year is the year to do it.

C’mon Deonte have a little more faith than that.  Also, why the heck do you want to make a trip to Pascagoula?  You’re either going to fry or get monsooned on.  It’s not a pleasant experience even though it makes for some brain scarring memorable ones.

you're absolutely right. Fry, monsooned on, and I might add, some terrible calls at the most pivotal points in the game.

The only thing pleasant about it is not having to get  there early to have a seat. That's it.

A trip there in the playoffs is a sure way to come away mad. The refs will keep them in the game long enough for that Sims special lateral to the TE then pass downfield that gets tipped right to a 5’2 third stringer for a TD with less than a minute left.

I believe WJ is going to be really good i know offensively they will. On defense they have some key players to replace but they played a lot of kids last season. I don’t know a lot about Hattiesburg but they have to prove they can win the big game in my opinion. Always loaded with athletes but find away to lose the big games

West Jones defense will start out struggling.  If they put it together by playoff time I think they only have to hold opponents to less than 24 because I don’t think anyone is slowing down that offense.  
 

I don’t like they get Laurel who’s looking for revenge week 1. Wish we started with South Jones and NEJ to let us work out the kinks. 
 

Laurel, Jackson Prep and Hattiesburg may be the only 3 to really challenge west in regular season.

These players been working their butts off trying to get that gold. Thanks to Coach Q, Coach Gibbs, and Coach Gray I don't think we been more focused this offseason in a long time. Let me talk some noise cause we have the best WR,KR, and RB corps in the State. Coach Vance has his hands fuller this year. Still have some work to do BUT we will be ready by August 31. If all fails 9-3 If all goes according to plan 14-0. #IslandBoys #BurgBuilt

Did y'all find a kicker yet?  That's an immediate glaring need if it hasn't been met yet.  Also, if you're left flopping and stranded on an island that's not a good place to be.  I don't think that SOS signal is going to be found.

LOL you are right on that, Slick. However most years it is coming from the Hattiesburg faithful. With what they return on defense, couple with a new WR to partner up with their 4 star WR, on paper, they look really, really good. Like you though, I will believe it when I see it.

I do get the sentiment with Hattiesburg I really do and it’s warranted. But I stand by what I say. Hattiesburg will lose to Petal and go 5-5 or go undefeated. You have Petal, OG is OG, Laurel anything can happen, George County and then West Jones. 
 

As for Pascagoula I’m just still salty about last year. Nothing would make me more happy than putting them out of the playoffs at their place contrary to the round.

Special teams is definitely something that would put the team over any hump that may arise.

That just speaks again to the amount of talent Hattiesburg has right now. This 2025 group for them is loaded. I stand by my statement of this being the year for them to make a run if they are going to make one.

Also, if this is Vance's last ride those players are going to be extremely motivated every Friday night.  You can't coach that.  They'll move anvils if they play to their potential.
