Wrong, he's almost right. Not a bad take. Doing away with spring ball altogether isn't the answer, but if you've ever had a player with a season ending injury in a spring football game you absolutely relate to this. Fans like spring football more than coaches, I promise.

It is a bad take. You should probably keep reading before you react . I literally went on to say coaches can run spring ball however they please and that some don’t even play spring games. That’s quite literally the coaches choice. If you only consider “spring ball” a spring game scrimmage then that’s fine. But to suggest doing away with player development during the spring is asinine.

How do you as fans feel about a win or a loss in spring games? Ex: If Louisville got beat in their spring game say 42-7 will you be concerned? On the other side of it, if you have not been a very good team in the past and you beat a team who makes regular playoff appearances every year will you be have high hopes that will carry over into the fall?

I personally don't think it paints a full picture.  If you do schedule that Spring Scrimmage with an opposing team, you're probably going to schedule it with a team who's on a similar level as you are.  I realize when we played Slidell last year it wasn't much of a game, but I think common sense kind of tells you not to put much stock into it whether you win or lose the thing.

Win or lose it doesn’t mean much to me. I’m looking at some of the little things like how well we tackle, missed assignments, how well we block etc etc.

Seminary has a ways to go it looks like to catch JDC and St Stanislaus

Raleigh may be a step ahead of Mize

Defensively I think Raleigh is a step ahead, but not offensively. Our best player got banged up a little early on and didn’t play against Raleigh. And we are trying to replace a 3 year starter at center and it’s been tough go all spring trying to find somebody. We probably fumbled more than 10 snaps last night. I lost count.

Fumbled 10 snaps but Raleigh isn’t ahead offensively?

It was 6 fumbled snaps after going back and looking. Thats just a center/QB exchange issue. We played 2 or 3 different guys at center last night. Trying to find which combo of 5 is best. That’s what’s spring games are for. We didn’t have quite as much a problem with it against seminary as we did Raleigh. Matter of fact all 6 fumbles were against Raleigh. Our offense moved the ball against seminary better than they did, but their defense did much better against seminary than ours did. Raleigh is quick in defense again. They got some studs on that side of the ball, 3 of them really good players.

Seminary has some big guys on defense, but they rotated some smaller quicker guys in too. Got a really good athletic looking defensive tackle. Offensive line probably will have to develop and grow go up some over the summer and early next season.

Seminary doesn't have the type of qb like the coach had at Taylorsville. 3A you have to be big and quick on both lines.

New qb being broken in to right.
