Mize will hold their spring jamboree this Thursday, May 9th. Mize, Raleigh, and Seminary are the 3 teams participating.

JV starts at 5, will be a mix and match of offense and defense between all 3 teams.

Varsity will follow the JV. Each team will get so many plays of offense, then defense. Mize plays Seminary first, then Seminary plays Raleigh next. Lastly will be Raleigh and Mize to finish it out.

This is such a bad take it’s not even funny

Not as bad as you think, and I am not talking about doing away with the spring ball in general. Most coaches I have talked to would rather treat it like a NFL mini camp sessions. They can have a few days in the spring and but also have a few days in the summer where they can have a padded mini camp. For instance, a coach can take five to six days in spring and then take a few more select days in the summer.

You can run your spring ball as you wish. Some coaches don’t even play spring games and don’t tackle much at all in the spring. But to say 90% of them would rather not do spring ball is pretty silly. That’s a critical time frame for development. It’s much tougher to get kids all in for summer workouts than it is during spring ball when they are pretty much obligated to be there.

What’s the skinny on this school ?

Historical wise it doesn't look like they've consistently been great over the years.  They finished 12-1 last year and set team records for wins, points scored and margin of victory in a game.  They lost to Central Phenix City in the Semi-finals.

They lost 26 seniors from last year including their best player in QB Jared Hollins(who’s now at South Alabama). Should be a rebuilding year for them but that coaching staff is really good so I wouldn’t be surprised at all if they still compete for a playoff spot.
