Pull-A-Roy
What's the best team that you have seen in person or on tv for each classification. I'll start . Will just do 1-6a. Also you can have co-s from each classification. 1A - 1996 Weir Lions 2022 Bay Springs Bulldogs 2A - 2013 Bassfield Yellow Jackets 1995 Taylorsville Tartars 3A - 1995 Amory Panthers 2002 Collins Tigers 4A - 1993 Louisville Wildcats 1997 Clarksdale Wildcats 5A - 1993 South Panola Tigers 1995 Starkville Yellowjackets 6A - 2010 South Panola Tigers I know there are many more to mention and if I go back and think about it there are some I could probably easily swap out also. maroontide06
6A - 2023 West Jones. Have we ever seen a better defense than that? I'm sure there may have been some in years past that could have been statistically better, but I'd put that defense up against any past state title team regardless of classification. '87 Pascagoula is probably the only one I can think off that would be better possibly. They were loaded everywhere on that unit. I think 10 of the 11 starters went on to play some form of college football. I would say that West Jones defense is probably the best I have seen in the last 20-25 years for sure. CrimsonUnit1988
3A- 2002 Greene Co, 2012 Greene Co 4A- 2003 Wayne Co, 2002 D'Iberville, George Co, Picayune, and West Jones, 2006 Wayne Co, 2023 Columbia. 5A- 2007 South Panola and George Co, 2008 Meridian, 2021 Picayune, 2022 Picayune 6A- 2016 Pearl, 2020 Oak Grove, 2021 Ocean Springs, 2022 Ocean Springs These are teams I have seen and they all played George Co. except for 2023 Columbia. I may be missing some.
Dubaction
03 South Panola was for a long time the best high school football team I’ve seen in person. Probably still is.

I know that I'm being bias but 05 and 17 West Point defenses was better IMO.

You got a point here, but if this game was played on Saturday I was only around 12 hours old LOL! If it was Friday, well you get the point. I haven't been able to do the whole time warp thing yet LOL!

Outscored the opposing team’s offenses for the year 37-34. Defense was Led by Demetrius Hill, the best high school defensive player I have ever seen in the State of Mississippi. He was a DT with incredible strength, agility, quickness and he was virtually unblock able. Father of Daniel Hill, who all of you are familiar with. I watched that team crush my brother’s Gulfport Admirals that season. They were really, really good. ‘85 Meridian and ‘87 Pascagoula are two of the best teams I have ever seen. They lost one game I think 13-7, and the other team returned 2 picks for a touchdown. Their offense never scored. I think it may have been Callaway. Meridian’s defense that year was elite, but their offense was not.
Bulldogs4
I would say SP 2003 and then Goula 1987 are 1-2 among large schools. Smaller schools would have to include Lake (1974) - they were undefeated and unscored upon for the entire season. Amory (1995) was a great team as well. The 1985 Meridian team did lose to Callaway 12-9 early in the season but the defense did record a shutout as the Chargers scored two defensive touchdowns. And yes the offense was average at best but fortunately they did not need to be any better. Going way back in history , the 1947 Goula team was great along with the 1966 Meridian team. The Meridian team that year was loaded with talent that went on to play college football.

CrimsonUnit1988
I think a lot are getting somewhat off topic. It’s the greatest teams you’ve seen PERSONALLY. Maybe some of you saw 1987 Goula AND 2003 South Panola. I didn’t. But if we’re talking about teams we have t seen personally then 2002 Wayne Co and Collins both could be up there. I wish I had been around to see Calvin Triplett’s 1986 Mighty Maroon Tide. I didn’t see them, so I can’t make a judgement call there.
