5 game winning streak for State since the debacle in Oxford. That said, schedule is about to toughen up big time. Next 10 games are all vs RPI Top 25 teams and 7 of the 10 are away from Starkville. Stealing two games at Vandy would go a long way, but definitely need to leave with at least one win.

Ole Miss hosts Bama in what is probably a must win series for OM.

At the very least, Khal and Jurrangelo give State a chance to get wins on the road against tougher competition.  We'll just need some bats to compliment the pitching.

Timely hitting is the most important aspect of baseball as long as you get solid pitching and defense. We have struggled mightily at times with that facet of the game. And quite frankly that is the biggest challenge for most teams.

Hopefully at Vandy we can get some of those big hits when we need them.

Definitely a must win series for Ole Miss and a huge series for USM at ULL. They are in a precarious position and really need to win two there to get their RPI back up in a better spot.

The Dohm injury is frustrating because State would arguably have one of the best three man starting rotations in the country if he was healthy. Not on Arkansas’ level but as good as just about anyone else has.

Being down 12-0 in game 1 in the 5th inning isn't a good start for a must win series.

I've been too busy to really watch this game so far, but I've seen 2 missed easy fly balls and a missed catch at second... that's 3 should be outs given up.

This Ole Miss team being the one to break the series losing streak against State makes zero sense.

Which actually makes the most sense because that is the way baseball is.
But this Ole Miss team is more weird than either of the 2022/2023 State teams or the 2023 Ole Miss team.

True, I guess this is less weird than 2022 State beating national champion Ole Miss or 2023 State beating national champion LSU. Both on the road, mind you.

I could be wrong but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team win while scoring 0 runs.

I think you’re right about that.  I just wish they would emphasize playing small ball a little bit more instead of hitting for power aka sitting long as Lem calls it.  Whatever happened to old fashioned grounders?  If you hit a grounder, guess what?  They can’t catch you out.  They actually have to throw you out, and then you can get the runners home that are sitting at 3rd with one out.  I realize that probably makes too much sense as to why you’ll never see something like this implemented.

Definitely a good win for State. A win tomorrow would certainly help the resume considerably.

Ole Miss is about to run out of rope. 7-14 in the league is going to be a tough hill to climb. Still have a chance but the fat lady is off stage warming up. I still think the team is better than what they have played so far. But at the same time I know the ole saying “after a certain point in time you are what your record is.”

Today was certainly huge. To blow a 6 run lead but then come back and win it when we were down to our last out shows a lot of fortitude.

We will see how it goes from here. Big, Big game at Trustmark Wednesday.

Yes, those “hosting chances” I mentioned for sure need to include a win in Pearl.
