You dont have a home or away side to sit on.
Dubaction
Haha… football. That’s funny. We’re not doing what Hoover does.

ccbulldog
it's a excellent location but the stadium would need extensive modifications to make into a football field, and would probably need double the seating.

Baseball stadiums do not make good football stadiums. It becomes a goofy mess. Now if you wanted to raze the thing and put a 20K seat football stadium with 10K on each side if you couldn’t get another minor league team as a primary tenant, then that could be the viable solution to having that central location for the State Title games. They aren't luring another minor league team. Pearl and Biloxi were the bottom two in Double A attendance last year. Biloxi can begin raising their arm to wave goodbye to the Shuckers in the very near future.

The cost to attend a Shuckers game is ridiculous in my opinion. Most minor league parks are known for some beer/food specials weekly or different promotional things to draw fans in. Shuckers did some here and there but nothing that stuck or was consistent. I said after their second year they would not make it for the long haul. Those are really big Midweek games in a state that loves college baseball. Anytime any combination of USM, MSU, or OM play there will be a massive crowd. Minor league games are fun but there is no real allegiance to the teams.
hasbeen67
I rarely went, but hate to hear we're losing it. Pretty good experience the few times I was there. Who owns it and would be responsible for rennovations?
Bulldogs4
I think it was less an attendance issue and more of the fact the Braves wanted all their minor league teams in Georgia. Which makes perfect sense economically. Pearl was the only team left outside GA. Having all their minor league players within easy driving distance of the big league team makes good $en$e.

Yeah I gathered even if attendance was higher it wasn't stopping the team from moving, but a lot of us are still bummed about it. I took my son often when he was small and the team was relatively new but have only been once in the past five or six years and that was pre pandemic.
