no way anyone can say this compares to past games in hattiesburg. Attendance looks terrible and I've heard many west jones fans are gonna have to drive home at midnight tomorrow night because of no hotel rooms available in Oxford. This is just not a good venue/location for these games.

“Just wait until that field looks like a disced horse pasture by tomorrow night”

“Rain will do that but still better looking than that Coe pasture in Starkville. Then there is a difference of 30,000 seats.”

Did you just fall off a turnip truck? The cow (not sure what a coe is) pasture in Starkvegas is easily the best field in Mississippi and in the nation. It will handle the rain just fine as there are pumps under the field to drain the water.

30,000 seats? Both stadiums seat just over 60K with Oxford Jr. college being just slightly larger.

20miles north  east there are rooms in New Albany, 20 miles east and tupelo has rooms. batesville is 20 miles west.........no telling how many bnb's within 10 miles of the stadium. inclement weather does hamper a crowd a bit in some cases though. hate them WJ folks ain't a coming then.  they must not be parents of the actual players. is the band coming?

Mississippi State wins national awards for their turf management every year. There are folks taking care of stadiums all over the country learned how to do it at Mississippi State. Don't even try to call that playing surface a pasture. It could easily host all 7 games in the rain and still be in playable shape.

Frankly both stadiums are very good and the crowds would appear to be tiny due to the venue size, as would be the case at Veteran's in Jackson.

USM has a small stadium and it's not great (at least the last time I was at a game there) but it would give the appearance of a more filled venue. Hattiesburg has more hotel rooms than  Oxford or Starkville (I would guess) but the need for them would vary based on where the teams are coming from, which is unknown when these things are scheduled.

It needs to rotate between the 3 venues (MSST, UM, USM). For the north teams to continually have to travel to Hattiesburg each year is not ideal.  The way the crowd looks in the stadium is way down on the list of importance.  The current rotation is good.

South Teams having to continually travel north 2 out of the 3 years is ideal though?

Honestly, Starkville is not really a bad ride from the Hattiesburg/Laurel and other pine belt area schools. And nobody from the coast makes the championship games anyway. LOL.

About like Hattiesburg, huh? Heck, you guys cannot even win a playoff game IN Hattiesburg. LOL. For Picayune it is roughly 3 hours and 45 mintues to Oxford and almost 5 hours to Oxford. Conversely, for a team like Biggersville, it would be over 5 hours to Hattiesburg for them. In my opinion, the games need to get back to the Jackson area. I do like Hattiesburg more than the others, but I feel for travel and all, it is best to play it somewhere in the Jackson area.

Sorry but the Vet is terrible. Other states play state title games in their best stadiums and so should we.

You are definitely right, Dub. I just liked it being central for everyone to travel. I do not mind the rotating thing because honestly, it is more about/for the kids and while some of us may not like it, the kids I am sure truly enjoy playing in the Big 3 stadiums.

While travel is a big issue amongst fans traveling that far, I have a friend of mine who lives in Pascagoula and he has season tickets to ole miss and him and his wife make that drive from goula to oxford 6 sometimes 7 or 8 times every season. Thats a no for me.
