I’m curious how interested Selmon was in Cignetti or if Cignetti was not interested in State.  It looks like he’s about to be Indiana’s coach.

Maybe I’m wrong on this but my suspicion is Selmon was going to swing for the fences on a P5 coach (Leipold, Elko, Klieman, etc) and then maybe Chadwell, and in the event they said no, Lebby was always next in line. Ahead of other G5 head coaches. Oklahoma people tend to work with other Oklahoma people, so I had a hunch early on that Lebby might end up being a big name in the search.

And yes, Selmon is 100% going to be the front runner for the Oklahoma AD job when Castiglione retires. This is a Greg Byrne situation where you’ve got a good young AD that you know won’t stay forever, you just hope to get as many good years from him as possible.

Lebby’s offensive staff appears to be just about complete. A lot of guys that were with him at UCF before he went to Oxford, plus another Briles connection with Kennedy. Bumphis is the only staff person that this offense will be new for.

Not much word on the defensive staff other than Turner. The two names that have gotten the most talk for DC are still Durkin and now Tom Allen, ironically both former Ole Miss guys, too.

Did I miss the OC hire?

Anthony Tucker is listed as Assistant Head Coach/Running Backs, so the OC position could be a tandem thing with Lebby calling the plays.

Yeah Tucker has been a Co-OC at multiple stops the last few years so that would make sense.

Seems to be a good bit of smoke that Durkin ends up being State’s DC. The delay has been rumored to be over his A&M buyout and whether or not they were firing him before State hired him. He just signed a new contract in October, only a couple of weeks before Jimbo was fired (man Ross Bjork is such a dummy lol).

Well shows what I know. Dellenger reporting that Coleman Hutzler is State’s DC. Had been LB and special teams coach at Bama. Worked at OM with Lebby too. Known as a very good recruiter but never called a defense.

Lebby’s staff is interesting for sure. High on familiarity, kinda low on experience. Feels like a boom or bust proposition.

That's a little bit scary to be honest.  State needs stability and not this fringe experiment hiring thing.

Appears that Matt Barnes from Memphis and Brandon Shelby from Indiana are going to be the DB coaches, with Barnes getting a Co-DC tag. Now those I think make a little more sense.

I won’t pretend this is an A+ staff on paper because there are a lot of unknowns for sure. But there’s upside too. Willing to let it play out. If some guys end up being bad hires, Lebby can always go find somebody else in a year.

Talk about creating a spot for Greg Knox.  They've got him as the Director of Career and Personal Development/D.A.W.G.  Don't know what the D.A.W.G. acronym is for, but sometimes you just have to invent a spot.

Develop A Winning Game Plan (the P is silent I suppose?)

It's actually Dawg Pee, Elijah Moore approves of the new position.**
