As far as OS- Meridian,it should be a good game if we don’t turn the ball over because OS won’t beat themselves.  We aren’t very disciplined and we turn the ball over consistently.  It’s playoff time, and anything can and will happen in these games.

I agree.

It amazes me how much teams gift wrap turnovers against OS in the games I watch. They’re certainly an opportunistic bunch. I’m rooting for Daniel Hill to get some playoff success before it’s all over. He’s been the face of that program the last 4-5 years through the ups and downs and he’ll be the best player on the field Friday.

I’ve been amazed as well. Turnovers are either a result of luck, or hard hitting and good form tackling along with good positioning in pass coverage. In this case, probably a combination of good fortune and good defense. We knew coming into the season that all of the experience would come in handy, and it has. Still, a good, athletic, and running QB negates some of that, and Hill is the kind of player who can will a team to win. Should O.S. get past this round, the turnover issue will likely come into play against Oak Grove.

OS has a left tackle, #70 Dedeaux, that is humongous(looks to be 6’7” -6’8”). He’ll be playing on Sundays with that size if he can develop.

He’s getting some quality offers from good schools at this point, and as he puts game video on record, he’ll get more. The rest of their Oline is pretty good too, resulting in RB Will Smith leading 7A in scoring and second in yardage. Their quick release passing game helps with their pass blocking skills. It’s a young, but improving part of this offense.

OS definitely gets past this round. They have always played well-disciplined football and that's what's paying off in my thoughts

He'll get offers just based on size. I've seen then offer terrible OL b/c they can "develop" them and they never do. He's already ahead of that curve. He'll have his choice of schools. Wish him well.

Whatever questions we might have had when the O.S. admin stayed in house to hire Coach Bramlette have been answered by the well coached and disciplined play this season. Causing turnovers on defense is only a positive if your offense is under control and minimizing their own mistakes. Depending on a strong run game and having the new QB buy in to a conservative system of short passes shows a coaching style that uses what is available after losing Hubbard. This team doesn’t have the wow factor that’s been there the past three years, but it just might be set up to win playoff games if they can hold the big offenses they will face to under 28 points.

The OS offense — particularly QB play —was exposed against Gulfport.

Three interceptions tonight, including a pick six and another returned inside the five yard line resulting in another Meridian TD.  The Meridian front seven contained Smith and the secondary was never threatened.

Boyles shortened the game by leaning on his offensive line and the physicality of Hill.  He’s made chicken salad out of the complete lack of any downfield passing game but their season will almost assuredly end next week.

I just got home from Ocean Springs and I must say that's the most inspired Meridian has played in 10 years or so. Daniel Hill put that team on his back and just refused to lose. The most important play of the game to me was just after Meridian had made a goaline stand at the 1 yd line early in the 4th Q. Meridian had a 3'rd and 10 at it's own one yd line. Daniel Hill ran around end and had a defender right in front of him to tackle him for a safety, yet Hill was able to get around him and run for another 50 yds. That play totally deflated Ocean Springs. It was nasty wet weather but one of the most enjoyable games i've attended in years. Even if we don't win next week, this game proves to me that Meridian is back. Boyles is a master motivator and leader.

Nothing but respect and praise for the Wildcat team and especially, Mr. Hill. Could hardly walk between plays, but with the ball in his hands, single-handedly carried it to the win. Not exactly alone, but you get the point. Disappointed in the loss, but the best team doesn’t always overcome better effort on the other side. Good luck to Meridian going forward. Credit Coach Boyles. See y’all next year.
