Yes, the main problem at Petal in my opinion. Too many chiefs, not enough Indians. Any insight on what the going rate is for a 7a coach above the normal teacher salary? Bilderback would be a home run hire as well, idk how they have it working out with his wife at ULM though. I would stay away from coastal coaches, just doesn’t translate well come playoff time.

Are you saying no to Stockstill because he is currently coaching on the coast?  He has a good resume.

I looked up the Stockstill guy and he does have a pretty good record. He may be a good option if we aren't able to lure Causey away from OG>

Stockstill is going to be a name you hear for a lot of the jobs that are viewed as attractive from 5A-7A. He has a great resume and everyone I have heard speak of him has nothing but great things to say.

OS beat OG last year. Picayune has won back to back state titles and Poplarville is typically pretty good. Kind of a weird statement.

Without getting into an argument about Geography … historically Picayune plays a much more physical brand of football than most teams on the coast.

OS beating OG last year was an anomaly compared to most seasons.

My biggest argument is that Stone and George are both considered Coastal. Pearl River is in a line with them so from West to East you have PR, Stone, George. Under them you have Hancock, Harrison, Jackson. That's the six coastal counties.

*EDIT: Dub, I didn't mean to quote you. My bad.

I don’t consider Pearl River County the coast, more times than not, the coast teams fold come playoff time. OS had the best player in the state last year and couldn’t get it done.

Lets stay on topic and get back to Petal. No one cares what team is considered coast or not.

Yes, The Admin is going to have to really step up and make football a priority at Petal. If they have another hire that doesn’t pan out again then they can expect to be bottom feeders of their division. Drew Causey, Chip Bilderback, Tony Vance in that order.

Look for Bilderback to leave Columbia after this season to be with his wife in Monroe La. She is the head womens basketball coach at ULM. Causey would be crazy to leave that gold mine he is sitting on at OG. And I dont think Vance would want to be at Petal. I could be wrong about all 3 of them.
