It may take some time but there were very encouraging signs on display in week one. Is Pascagoula going to be more run oriented? The reason why I ask that is because the new coach said he wanted to get his RB 1500 yards this season.

I also think Gulfport may just be that good and Picayune is a better team than they think right now coming off of that loss. Coast football as a whole is down in my opinion this year. You have Gulfport that appears to be on its own level, then Pass Christian, Poplarville and probably d'Iberville are in the next rung and then after that it appears to just be a pretty fair amount of average teams.

Pass Christian nor Poplarville are above Picayune. Diberville possibly.

What has Picayune done this season to say they are above either Pass or Poplarville?? We will be able to answer the question about Poplarville/Picayune in a few weeks. Maybe I am jumping the gun, but to see Picayune get shut out - at Home - for the first time in 20+ years speaks volumes. Gulfport is really, really good. They were last year, and Picayune beat them. Picayune has routinely beaten higher classification teams. So to see them get shut out, in my opinion, speaks volumes to how "down" they may be.

But Pass Christian? I just dont see them being in the top 10 of the best schools on the coast right now.

It was actually a span of 26 years and 3 days, from 8/25/2000 to 8/28/2026.

slicklizard
Another thing I should have worked into the list is Stringer. Their coach came to Waynesboro and campaigned for our job. Actually, I think he was called but all that is to in the past. I thought he was a good coach? Is stringer not good ? His names out there a lot. something else has been on my mind since I heard about him during that time. As many openings as there was this last hiring period why didn’t he get another job? Has he got a bad rap ? it could be that he just loves stringer that much.

They had a stud running back that graduated. WA goes to there this season they were pretty salty last season. He’s old school blood and guts wing T coach. He's wing T throw it down the sideline a few times. When he had the OL and RB's at Bay Springs they were tough to beat.

He graduated from there, his wife works there, his sons go to school there, and his nephew plays there. I think he saw his opportunity to go home and revitalize Stringer’s program while also being with his family and took it. Stringer was coming off 3 straight 2 win seasons when he arrived. He helped more than double their win total to 5 in his first year, and they are coming off a 9-3 season in his second year. Last Friday, they did not have a good showing. Several turnovers and poor defensive performance. 1A is not very strong this year though, so even with a not so great loss to a middle of the road 2A team, they still will be competitive down the stretch. I think the potential is there for them to win their district, go 7-3 or 8-2, and make it to the 3rd round of the playoffs or farther. If they fix the turnover problem they had Friday, I think their offense will be hard to stop by the competition they face.
