I think Tville may have their worst season ever next year. Maybe the next couple years. They got a decent junior high group coming up though. They will have to build around that group.

I am thinking similar to the same for worst season ever. I don’t know if they will quite top 1989, where they went 2-8, but it could be similar to that year. I think, like last year, they get obliterated throughout non-district, but at worst I think they should go 2-2 in district. Possibly even win it depending on how well they develop throughout the summer with a young team.

I think JDC will settle  into mediocrity for a few years. Dangerous with the head coach but not scary. It may be that they have mostly Prentiss talent and less Bassfield talent. They have definitely fallen off.

Heidelberg definitely looks better than Hattiesburg. Hattiesburg offense looks terrible

Hattiesburg  lost a lot of offense and with this newer oline new wr, and young rbs we have to wait and see.

Had Hattiesburg won I’m sure a different tune would be sung but yes it is just a spring game.

Not really... we've lost every spring game i can remember going back to the beginning of the Vance era. As long as no one was injured I'm good. I'm almost more than positive we will be ready in Fall.

Doesn’t Hattiesburg have 1 or 2 WRs with power 4 offers?

Yupp and honestly he's not the best one on the team. We got a kid that came over from a smaller school and I'm not sure how he doesn't have any offers... which he didn't play any in the spring game. Imagine Young from last season but 6'3 and thats pretty much him.

Look, it may not mean anything for the regular season. But Hattiesburg did not look good, especially offensively. Defense played good in spurts. But Heidelberg lost most of their defense from last year and Hattiesburg moved the ball very little.

Im talking about WRS playing time

I get what you’re saying. I’m just saying it doesn’t make sense to me for a starting qb and other key players to play a full game and WRs to spot play. Maybe they weren’t 100% going into the game.

Two of the wide receivers had just got off the baseball field and barely saw the practice field for spring training

Games like that are hard to gauge anyway because the bigger school doesn’t really get up for it that much, while the smaller school comes out with something to prove

Well. That’s currently the premier small program in the state to be fair

That just shows what Carter looks like when he faces a team that is actually coached the game of football.

The scores of a lot of their games last year were misleading. They would be up 40-0 at halftime in a lot of games, and that’s very impressive. But any other coach would use the 2nd half as an opportunity for the JV to get playing time, gain some game experience. Heidelberg however would keep their starters in until midway thru the 4th quarter and would still be throwing deep bombs trying to run the score up as much as they could. I mean, we were beating Lake 42-0 at halftime last year in the 1st round. We could have won 70-0 if we wanted to. But our starters sat the 2nd half and we won 49-12

That's one of the sad things about football in general. A lot of times the coaches that do the best jobs coaching from  a fundamental and scheme stand point are doing it with inferior talents. Some of the coaches that people think are great coaches are simply doing it because they have far superior players. Not always , but a good bit of the times. I am not saying that is the case in this particular situation.

Other than 1 guy on each o and d line, Hattiesburg’s lines looked…………(thinking of a descriptive word)…..,,…lesser, than they have in a few years. Heidelbergs lines handled them. The d backfield also looked very vulnerable.
