As we are approaching Week 1, I thought I would compile a list of the Top 20 biggest games to watch in the state IMO 1A-7A. These games are in no particular order. This list may be small school and also south heavy because that’s what i’m more familiar with. Feel free to add to this list and submit your picks on who you think comes out on top in some of these matchups. Lots of good matchups this week regardless of class.

Biggersville @ West Lowndes

Lumberton @ Purvis

Mize @ Taylorsville

Vardaman @ Nanih Waiya

Enterprise Clarke @ Stringer

Choctaw County @ East Webster

JDC @ MRA

Heidelberg @ Noxubee County

Raleigh @ D’iberville

Quitman @ Kemper County

Columbia @ Hartfield Academy

Seminary @ West Lauderdale

Kosciusko @ Neshoba Central

West Point @ Louisville

Laurel @ West Jones

Hattiesburg @ Petal

Picayune @ Gulfport

Tupelo @ Brandon

Oak Grove @ Starkville

Germantown @ Northwest Rankin

Laurel vs West Jones is one I am interested in. Laurel had their worse season ever last season. Would a win over WJ make a statement?

Man… Olive Branch used to be a juggernaut

Things have changed. Desoto County and Misshsaa has cracked down on out of state transfers coming in since those days.

Also 4 different public schools’ zones cross over Olive Branch city limits. (OB, Center Hill, Lewisburg, or Desoto Central) That’s not counting Collierville, TN who has 4 starters who played at Olive Branch or Center Hill and transferred recently.

Shannon will handle business Friday and Olive Branch not like they usually to be and they probably not on Grenada level to competition in 6A and got a new coach

They should probably butt up next to the original city limits at some point in time. Anexing county property probably changed things.

But are they loaded enough to dethrone Louisville in the north? We’ll get an early glimpse of that week 2.

they are by no means capable of playing with Louisville.  The next best 4A team in the north is supposed to be New Albany and they probably can't beat Shannon

Oh I know. I just enjoy his yearly talk up of them. This year it’s justified as they look to be a solid squad.
