rebmus
Arkansas took the series with a 12-9 win today. Ole Miss took the lead 9-8 in the 8th, blew the lead in the 9th. Arkansas is really good, but I'm curious if we're seeing a potential bullpen issue for Ole Miss against good competition.

The issue today was not the bullpen. The short stop cost Ole Miss the game today in the 9th plain and simple. He should be taking 100% of the blame in the press conference. I was talking much more about giving up 5 earned runs after the starter and before the closer. That was today. Yesterday was 7 earned runs after the starter and before the closer. BrickCity
Is it too early to start the “Fire Lemonis” trend? Or at least we were competitive?
Bulldogs4
I don’t think that it is Fire Lemonis” time. Give credit to Texas for playing just a bit better than we did. This team has some good pieces and I think it can be good. But losing three at home is not a good look at all. And of course the 2021 team was swept at home by Arkansas early as well. Pressure is now on to win some games going forward. And win immediately. We will see.

No need to be curious. I can confirm we have bullpen problems.

Win immediately is the only answer, but what they’ve shown so far this season that’s unlikely. Throw out the Covid year and this is his sixth season. He’s had two great seasons, two horrible seasons and one okay. Is that what State should be happy with?

I don’t want to seem like the type of guy that always expects us to be a top 10 team but honestly, we should be consistently top 25 and postseason is a “guarantee”. MS state baseball should be the one sport that fans can count on, and i don’t feel like that’s been the case under Lemonis

It's not "Fire Lemonis" time because that time has already passed. When you do nothing, expect nothing. 1
pancho
give it 2 more weeks after oklahoma and lsu. these 2 weeks will display whether lemo has any metal to him at all.

pancho
you think same as i do. he is overmatched in recruiting and assessing talent and very out coached situationally in game.
coastfootballfanman
It is past time to move on. Every year State keeps him on, they fall further and further behind. He was successful early on due to having a large of amount Cannizaro's guys. You have 3 full seasons of his recruiting, his players, his scheme and State is nowhere near where it should be. He has done a poor job of assessing talent and recruiting. He seems to be outcoached every time they play someone as good or better. I will say it, Mississippi State is a Top 10 baseball job in this country. The history, facilities, fan support, are among the elite nationally. There is zero reason to be as bad as they have been overall. Edited March 17, 2025 by coastfootballfanman
maroontide06
If you move on, who do you move on with? The problem kind of compounds itself at that point. Who would be doing what and who would be the one to make those decisions? @coastfootballfanmanyou see where this is headed.

State is a very appealing job. Or at least in my opinion it is
pancho
There is some current traction among boosters in favor of a buyout potentially by seasons end, if not sooner.
Insideradvantage
Sooner? Man you don’t see that very often in college baseball.

Dawg83
There’s no doubt he followed up the national championship pretty poorly. And State has been pretty patient with him, IMO. Many wanted him gone after 2023 and if they had done it then, I think there were legit reasons to do so. I’m not sure I see them making a change during the season. But if they miss the NCAAT this year, I believe there will be a coaching change.

David44
It's amazing the difference being swept as opposed to going 1 - 2 makes in these series. State really should have won that Friday night game. If (and it won't be easy) they could win 1 game in the next 2 series and get to 2-7, I can see a path to 14-15 SEC wins. Just a tough SEC draw to open with 3 top 12 schools, and 2 on the road. Later, they have Kentucky and SC at Starkville, and a winnable final series of the year at Missouri.
coastfootballfanman
I would make Christian Ostrander an offer he cannot refuse. He is a really good recruiter. He has a long, proven record of recruiting and developing pitchers. He has been really successful just about everywhere he has been. He is a guy who could do a great job there I believe. Bulldogs4
Bianco is safe. I don’t get the Ole Miss folks wanting to run him off after 25 successful years of which maybe 3-4 were below par. He is such a class act and even though I am a State alum/fan, he has always been one of my favorites. Lot of respect for him. And not just about baseball. And I am still willing to give Lemonis this season to either make it or break it. If we swoon the rest of the year then it will be time for a change. But the season still has a long way to go. We will see what happens.
