Chunky6617
Mize has cancelled their jamboree for this week and our week 1 game and Loyd Star. We made masks mandatory and it’s spread like crazy. I dont know how much more proof we need that masks do not work, but whatever. But we are having to close school down for two weeks because we don’t have enough teachers available. Can’t teach without teachers
Arashatora
It spread prior to the masks... https://www.pnas.org/content/118/4/e2014564118 Evidence Edited August 18, 2021 by Arashatora
choctawman
My nephew is a doctor and he has researched this a lot. Masks only work if everyone wears them and that is not happening. A Medical mask called a NP95 is the only one that will work by itself. The medical profession uses these and they must be stamped to indicale they are medical. Arashatora
This is simply not true. Yes N95 are the most effective, but all masks help. Please see the peer reviewed article I posted.
Dubaction
Idk….but I’ve worn a cloth mask the entire time and haven’t even come close to catching covid. At least to my knowledge. Half the people that are anti vaxxers probably don’t even wash their hands before they leave the restroom.
Dubaction
OG vs Harrison Central will now be a scrimmage next Friday night btw. Sucks but we missed a week of practice so as long as we’re getting some football I’m satisfied.

It doesn't go down as a forfeit and make OG 0-1 does it? I hope not.

BoKnows08
North Panola vs Water Valley is cancelled... Im hearing that North Panola has shut down their atheltics programs for the year. Not sure if there is truth to this claim or not.

Please see the peer reviewed article I posted. Multiple studies, including ALL randomized controlled trials have shown mask wearing outside of healthcare setting is not effective. You cannot achieve proper mask wearing in a school or general public setting. It’s actually settled science. That study also assumed that droplets was the still the primary source of spread. That’s not believed to be the case anymore. It’s spread mostly through aerosols, which renders cloth masks useless.

Majority of people who catch covid consider themselves “STRICT” mask wearers according to the CDC

ccbulldog
all of this could have been avoided if everyone had just got the vaccine. But Mississippi has the lowest vac rate in the entire country. That's embarrassing!

It may weaken symptoms but there would still be plenty of positive cases
Dubaction
Not necessarily avoided. But less likely to end up in a hospital bed and less likely to spread it versus the alternative.

Arashatora
I feel like if we can survive the first 2/3 weeks we should have a semi-normal season. People would rather chance a 70k medical bill or death than get a free vaccine
pancho
You really think so about the first 2-3 weeks? Dobbs and Fauci both have mentioned other strains coming etc. I'm not sure what to believe about what they even say. Fauci just said on msnbc that it's bad if you get a booster shot too quick. Now he'll probably say the opposite tomorrow I know. I know several people with medical conditions who fear(with a doctors advice) getting the jab and know several 20-25 yr old males who are aware of studies which show heart issues in active healthy males in that age group. So I'm gonna have to disagree with your last sentence.
