I fully expect that to be the North Half.
-
Kosciusko is another team that I would think would be very close. They are returning a lot from last years team.
-
Lafayette got rid of the Crosstown Classic with Oxford because they suck so bad. At least your rivalry would die with a little dignity and honor and not a Superintendents ego.

I 100% support this idea.

Unfortunately we have left the times of “where is the right in any of that” and entered the time of. “If it is profitable for us/me then it must be right regardless of its impact on others”.

Guys why do yall keep taking the bait? These Hattiesburg people turn every thread into Hattiesburg (aka runner-up) thread. This is Tupelo recruiting and we’re discussing Hattiesburg’s likelihood to be runner up again.
-
The irony of that is crazy.

Tupelo 2017 11-1 (0-1 playoff) 2018 7-5 (0-1 playoff) 2019 7-5 (0-1 playoff) - run off Trent Hammond the best X’s and O’s football coach they’ve had 2020 6-5 (0-1 playoff) 2021 7-4 *** no playoffs*** - oh no we look like idiots for getting rid of Hammond so let’s begin getting area talent. Ask anyone who lives in this area when they began recruiting and they will tell you that it was around this time. The head coach at Saltillo left because administration refused to do anything about it.
-
The question was “if they weren’t allowed to recruit…”
-
If there is plenty of talent in Tupelo then why do they have 3 starters from Saltillo a few from Baldwyn, Shannon, Oxfords QB from last year etc? Go check and see how many deep playoff runs they (Tupelo) had prior to recent years. Only one I recall is when Trent Hammond was there and that team was much better coached than the current regime. The first couple years Hardin was at Tupelo on “local” talent didn’t they go undefeated and get bounced in the first round? Oxford has been competitive the last several years because they have redrawn the school lines 2 dozen times to get certain players in the county and the one time that players went the other direction to Lafayette County because of coaching staff Neaves and his boys stepped in and ruled them ineligible because Oxford pitched a hissy fit and then MHSAA let them play at Oxford even though they were all living in Lafayette County district and had been there for years.

If I’m petal I’m running it down Hattiesburg throat. They have proven to not be very physical at all the last 2 appearances in the SC game.

Grenada has now lost 5 starters to transfer and a kid that was going to get a lot of action at RB had to get a pacemaker put in and can no longer play football due to health. My understanding is the kid collapsed on the field this summer and had to have chest compressions done to save his life.

Oxford High School and Tupelo High School and honestly probably Jackson Academy and Hartfield Academy.

Those two games will be huge and I believe any one of those 3 teams could be pulled out of a hat to rep the North Half of the state. From a talent perspective it should be Winona.

It’s a very good list. I saw Nanih Waiya in the spring and Calhoun City. Calhoun City lost a ton from last year but they still have a lot of talent. They are very good at QB and WR as well as up front on offense. Defensively they aren’t as good especially at LB but they are very solid.
