  1. Tigers looked like a team that played zero prior games and very limited practice time who beat a pretty crappy Cordova team. It's good to see a former player who can show these kids how to win and what it takes to make it to the next level and beyond (something sorely lacking in recent years, imo)--especially on the offensive line. SP is in dire need of some new blood, and coaches like Jerry are an excellent start. Hopefully, there's a lot of season left, but the lack of games is going to hurt them going forward if they don't gel quickly. Pump the brakes on USA Today rankings and streak talk, dude.
  2. I'm referring to recruiting, but this is recruiting on steroids. But somewhat legal, I guess?
  3. GCS is doing what other private schools have done since ever. Not sure why that upsets people; probably because they're winning, it seems. But it is bizarre that a media outlet and MS sports "historian" is talking about their success like this is a ragtag bunch of outcasts/underdogs who never win anything finally putting it all together situation, though.
  4. That was my thought initially, unless something's a bit worse than what's being reported. Initially, that first game at Neshoba Central was canceled (late Friday night, go figure), and the Oxford game was canceled today. Not sure how they're counting it. Hernando just went virtual and their jamboree and first game vs Rosa Fort has been forfeited. Nothing about their 9/3 game vs Cleveland Central has been announced yet.
  5. South Panola’s jamboree versus Lafayette and first two games, Neshoba Central and Oxford are cancelled because the school switched to virtual learning for 14 days. Tigers are 0-2, I guess. Again, the MHSAA supports homeschooled student participating in MHSAA-sanctioned events. Why would this be any different—other than appeasing our oatmeal-brained state leadership?
  6. A bizarre stance by the MHSAA, an organization not known for turning down money. How is this different from homeschooled students participating in MHSAA-sanctioned sports and activities--which Rickey Neaves supports?
  7. "An influx of students to the private schools and home schooling is in the works." "A large % of the departing students will be the ones who perform better in the required testing categories." How about some facts and data to back up those statements?
