rebmus
Tobacco lawyers paid off the Ump to call the game before Ole Miss could potentially take the loss. Being rich has advantages. **

If you ain’t got the gonads to play a baseball game in a little bit of mud, you might as well forego baseball and start bowling or doing some sort of indoor sport that keeps you high and dry. I also find it odd, but you surely realize my comment was sarcasm? This game was scheduled to play at Pearl, USM and OM had nothing to do with field conditions. It just seemed odd that the baseball game was called off, due to field conditions. Are they going to refund people who bought tickets for the game? Dawg83
I’m probably going to end up way wrong on this, but as down as I’ve been on State and Ole Miss, for some reason I have them both winning their series this weekend. Call it a weird feeling, perhaps it’s just gas lol.

Dawg83
State has allowed 90 runs in 6 conference games. Just losing a game 2-1 would be a refreshing change.

Exactly. And that's a loss nobody would be upset about.
Bulldogs4
We had a 5-4 lead against UK in the eighth inning on the the first Friday conference game. Had we won that game, I wonder if our psyche would have been different Saturday/Sunday. No way to know and we might be 1-5 now. Coming into that game we had won seven in a row. Blowing that game set the tone for the rest of the weekend and everything has spiraled down since. But hey we won last night and right now any win is a great win. The encouraging thing is we only walked three batters for the game. Hope that trend continues. We will see what happens this weekend. If we issue 3 walks per game against South Carolina, they'll make us pay for them. As far as I'm concerned that's 3 walks too many and there's no excuse for walking a batter, especially a lead-off batter. Now if we have a total of 3 walks for the entire weekend, then yes that will be an impressive turnaround.
Dawg83
South Carolina leads the nation in home runs so can’t afford many walks or they can pile it on you quick.

Just let them attempt solo shots and yes some may get out of the yard, but you'll definitely get a fair share at the warning track and also some pop-ups in the outfield. Just hard to have much confidence in this staff not walking a bunch of guys, or this defense not committing several errors.

I didn't think about the whole dropping pop-ups aspect of it, which is something that should never happen, but that would seem par-for-the-course for this State baseball team. Bulldogs4
At least we had a chance to tie or win the game in the ninth inning. A loss is a loss but it is certainly better than losing 26-3.

Well State arguably played a better game than South Carolina tonight, but still was on the wrong side of the win/loss column. State just couldn’t seem to get runs home when they needed them. The effort was great and State had multiple opportunities to get a lead and win the ballgame. At least this one was lost in the 9th inning. MSU showed some potential tonight. Either way, MSU has to figure out how to start winning SEC games. (Not a shot at MSU, obviously OM is in the same boat taking on water to sink).
