Dawg83
I know that I’m on the record as saying Lemonis would be back in 2024 no matter what. Did not realize they’d be getting run ruled routinely, though. Things have gotten much worse much quicker than I ever thought was possible. Bulldogs4
At this juncture, it is hard to see this turning around though it is possible. We are only 4 games into the Conference schedule. Sometimes a humiliating loss like last night will spur a turnaround by a team. Frankly it is hard to see that happening but I am always going to pull for our team and players. We will see what happens. Right now we are making the Bad New Bears look like major leaguers.

I don’t think anyone would have been able to predict just two weeks ago how bad things would actually be. I’m like Bulldogs4 there in that I will always support the team and the players. Those players deserve the best leadership, guidance, and coaching. Right now those needs are not being met.
Dawg83
Another humiliating loss for State, Vandy is up 18-5 in the 9th. This is past the point of being hard to believe. 16 straight SEC losses for State.
maroontide06
Zac Selmon obviously has an easy and clear decision to make. It’s just when will it happen.
MSTSatchmo
Maybe Vandy and Kentucky are just THAT good.***

Dawg83
The last two national title winners are a combined 0-10 in SEC play right now. Geez.

Ha- I was about to post the (almost) same. MSU and OM are both 0-5 in SEC play so far. It's a LONG season and things may well change, but obviously a bad start for both teams. Bulldogs4
Sustaining yourself after a NC is extremely difficult. USCe won two straight about 10 years ago and they have not approached that level since. There seems to be a pall of gloom over State and now more recently for Ole Miss. Very difficult to endure but in State’s case I am still not in favor of firing a coach in the middle of the season. I know that is the popular thing but the popular thing is not always the right thing to do.

But man they are making the decision after the season an easy one, Like I mentioned earlier this weekend, it’s not just that they aren’t winning, they haven’t even been close. Bulldogs4
Yep. Losing games when you are competitive is one thing. Getting blown out game after game is losing on steroids.
maroontide06
And things certainly won’t be getting any easier either. Red hot South Carolina pays a visit to Starkville next weekend. They’ll have 3 consecutive weekend sweeps in SEC play.

rebmus
OM/MSU both 0-6 in SEC play now. When's the last time that happened?

maroontide06
I don’t know if there’s a difference here, but Ole Miss is a competitive 0-6, while State is a non-competitive 0-6. Yes the results are equivalent, but the scoring margins are vastly different.

OM still has a path to 14 or 15 SEC wins, but obviously has to start playing better. The next 2 series are AT #21 A&M an hosting #5 Arkansas... so things won't be much easier. IF OM can go 3-3 in those 6, I like their chances of having a decent year. 2-4 will make the hill tougher to climb. 1-5 or 0-6, yikes... it's going to be a long year. Wcchaingang
For OM the young arms have to start pitching better. Elliot being out forced Dougherty into a different role and forced someone into his role. And not having a guy like Mallitz hurts.
Dawg83
It’s a bad year to be bad in the SEC. There are a ton of really good teams in the league this year. State and OM don’t appear to be one of them, particularly State.
Dawg83
Are we going to have anything worth talking about until football starts up in the fall? Lol.

I guess that will depend upon if the baseball team can reverse it's trajectory. If not, then probably not.
maroontide06
Pardon my ignorance, but why was the Southern Miss-Ole Miss baseball game canceled for tonight? Weather seems just fine.

I was listening to it and DK said there was numerous slips and the umps got together and decided to call it.
