maroontide06
Great atmosphere tonight in Biloxi. Nate Dohm was something else. Slammed the freaking door with 97 mph heat! Edited March 16, 2023 by maroontide06
Bulldogs4
As I mentioned recently, our pitching had to improve (specifically throwing strikes) for us to start winning some games. That seems to be the case over the last 10 days. But can we throw strikes consistently in LEX this weekend? The answer will let us know how our weekend goes. Dawg83
Dohm has been really good. They need to get some other arms back from injury though (Smith, Kohn, Nixon). My concern with Dohm is if we don’t find other guys we can count on, it’s going to turn into a Spencer Price or Riley Self thing where he’s really good and then we totally burn him out. maroontide06
Why haven't we seen Stone pitch this year? Last night he was coaching 1st base kind of like what Landon did last year.
rebmus
Vandy run ruled OM 12-2 in the 8th inning tonight.

Getting your arm SEC ready is an entirely different deal. Wouldn’t count on him this year. Maybe he can throw in some midweek games eventually. Bulldogs4
SEC Schedule makers are incredibly dumb. Scheduling KY with a home series the first weekend of the conference season. WX forecast is the temps will be in the 30’s all three games this weekend. Care to guess the attendance for these games? 500 for each at most (actual attendance not paid). I get it that is part of the deal but IMO it is another reason to push the season back even one week possibly make a difference. Baseball was not intended to be played in these kind of weather conditions. An additional worry is possible injuries to players…especially pitchers as that kind of cold is very tough on your arm. maroontide06
Tough way to lose a baseball game for State. That’s baseball for you.
Dawg83
Did not have Ole Miss getting dominated in their first two games. Dang. State let one get away tonight, and may have burned Dohm for the weekend in the process. Not ideal.
Bulldogs4
Difficult loss tonight. Will see how resilient we are the next two days. Ole Miss off to a tough start against Vandy. They need to win tomorrow to salvage a game. 0-3 is not a good way to start the conference season.
rebmus
Vandy has drilled OM the first two games of the opening SEC series for these two teams. IF OM wants to repeat as National Champions, they'll obviously have to play better. The past two National Championship teams have proven though, you can have less than wanted regular season results and still end up winning it all. I forgot they blew that late series to Missouri and didn’t show up in Hoover. That was not a promising start to the postseason.

I do remember Notre Dame being pissed that they had to play in Starkville for the Super rather than hosting. They may have had a legit beef, I think they won the ACC. But it’s all history now. Dawg83
State about to drop its 13th SEC game in a row. With Vandy coming to town next week. Good luck with that.

Dawg83
Still struggling to figure out what exactly has happened to State the last two years. I understand that the arm talent isn’t exactly the same, but the program recruits too well for the situation to be this bad. If they end up getting swept by Kentucky today I am struggling to to find 10 SEC wins on the schedule.

With what State invests in the baseball program plus how good the recruiting classes have been, the results have been far from satisfactory. MSTSatchmo
Of course you can recruit players with talent, but you’ve got to have some “players”. Guys you can count on to compete and absolutely HATE to lose that also are talented. That’s not really something you can coach, but good coaches can probably spot it in a kid. State and OM both had several of those when they made their NC and CWS runs.
maroontide06
The pitching has been atrocious and the walks have been as contagious as a yawn. I know the weather is cold, but you still have to throw strikes.

maroontide06
Also the amount of runners left on base is inexcusable. You have to get those runners home.
