Kind of agree on Southern that Tennessee’s pitching is capable of shutting them down.
But emotion can carry a team in a short series. I think Tennessee wins but I will not surprised if USM finds a win to win two games unconventionally this weekend. Superior talent does not always win. Plus Tennessee, before the Regional last week, had struggled on the road.

Will still be pulling for the Eagles to win regardless.

USM surely the underdog, but I see some favorable trends coming into this weekend. I know Tennessee can just keep

bringing those power arms out of the pen, but of their top 10 pitchers (by innings), I only see 2 leftys, and USM lineup is

generally left-handed heavy. And, in the Auburn regional, USM had some guys get really hot at the plate to get them thru,

but their best hitter for most of the season, Slade Wilkes was pretty quite. If he gets going, and the others stay hot,

they can win it. Finally, you just can't quantify the pending retirement of Scott Berry and the effect it can have on a group

of young men, wanting it not to end for him.

I saw a comment a while ago that was interesting. As bad as State was this year, we were 6-10 against the remaining 16 teams in the Supers. Not necessarily great but not too bad either.
And yes this weekend the average fan will be in USM’s corner along with every SEC fan outside Knoxville.

At the end of the day you can’t let yourself get swept four times in a season. That killed any postseason chances for State. Just win one game in each of those series and State is 13-17 and probably in the NCAAT.

I get the Tennessee pick, but will USM really lay that big of an egg?  I think if Southern can get either a game 1 or game 2 win, that will carry a lot of momentum into game 3.  If Southern loses game 1 then obviously it's probably a little bit more difficult for them, but if they win game 1 I think they take the Super and punch a ticket to Omaha.

USM jumped on Tennessee early, up 4-0 now but currently in a weather delay. You hope that doesn’t totally shift momentum, USM seemed in control for the first 3.5 innings.

USM looked really good early.  Hopefully, they can pick up where they left off.

Oregon looks to be picking up the second spot.  Oral Roberts can’t catch a break.

Game suspended til 11 am tomorrow

I missed the games today until the past hour.

USM not only holds a 4-0 lead in the 5th, Tanner Hall didn't pitch in the game.

IF USM can finish this game with a win tomorrow and start Tanner Hall in game 2 (or 3?), I really like USM's chances.

TCU grabbed the second spot a bit ago. Oregon looks good to grab the third spot, but Oral BJ Roberts isn't going away quietly. 7-6 after 8.

Oral Roberts walked it off on a bases loaded ground rule double. The first two games in that Super have been outstanding.

This has been a fun series to follow.

LSU/KY is the only game left today, and LSU is killing KY 12-0 in the 7th.

I hate I missed the end of it.   I gave it up after the guy dropped the ball hitting the centerfield wall and Oregon went up 7-4.

It feels like UT has the fresher pitching staff for tomorrow, but USM could possibly use Oldham again after the weather cut his outing short yesterday, and he was fantastic prior to the stoppage. Anything goes in winner take all games, should be an interesting finale at The Pete.

Wake and Virginia locked up spots in Omaha earlier today. Wake has just steamrolled through the postseason so far, curious to see them on the big stage. Virginia vs Florida is a really strong opening round game on Friday.

Regardless of what happens at Oregon the rest of the evening, I think it’s safe to say that Oral Roberts is legit. And if they hang on for the win, it will be good to see a little guy in Omaha. Although, they have had some good baseball teams historically.
