Bulldogs4
Auburn was not that good. A terrible State team should have beaten them two out of three. Initially I thought Auburn was the worse draw versus Alabama. But I was wrong. Long way to go but they are capable of winning three more games to win it. Dawg83
Tennessee beats Clemson in 14 innings, probably the game of the tournament so far. I know UT kinda underachieved in the regular season but they have the pieces to win the whole thing, especially on the mound.

The announcer said Tennessee just used 3 arms and they were all throwing upper 90’s. If they get some consistent offense they could make a run. That’s all we need is Tennessee to start getting cocky again.

Dawg83
The Penn Quakers are in the catbird seat in Auburn. How bout that? Florida got upset today too by Texas Tech. Vandy in trouble against Oregon right now, Bama currently in a tight one against Troy.
Dawg83
Vandy and Kentucky both lost today. Bama looks like they are going to escape with a miracle, Troy has melted down defensively in the 9th. A&M is about to take down Stanford. They are playing as well as anyone in the SEC right now.
Dawg83
Clemson is the first Top 8 seed to go home. Starting to feel like Tennessee has a very straight forward path to Omaha.

Bulldogs4
USM beat Samford 9-4. Now have to beat Penn. Hopefully they can score some runs because with pitching now into its 4th game, they are going to give up some runs. I said that singular because the next game is the only one that matters. From 3-2 in the 9th to 11-2 in a hurry. Outside of some poor offense on Friday, Southern has looked like the best team in this Regional. Really impressive the last two days. They’ll have to win one more tomorrow but I like their chances. Once they beat Auburn I felt like they were the favorites here. The interesting part becomes if they do win, do they get shipped to Knoxville or does Tennessee come to Hattiesburg? I think both have a legitimate case to host that potential Super. Could run into the same issue with Texas and Texas A&M if A&M beats Stanford tomorrow In the “nobody predicted this” pairing of the weekend, looks like we are headed for Oregon vs Oral Roberts Super Regional (in Eugene I presume?) Oral Roberts is a heck of a 4 seed though, they're 49-11. Edited June 5, 2023 by Dawg83

I think that’s what SHOULD happen. USM for all intents and purposes was a higher slotted 2 seed than Tennessee. But I think it still has to go back to the closed door committee and they can do whatever they feel like. There’s not necessarily a black and white criteria for these situations. Same situation could arise if the Texas vs Texas A&M Super ends up happening, though that would require A&M to beat Stanford tonight. I don’t know what USM has left in terms of pitching, but I can’t imagine Penn is in any better shape. And I think USM is generally the better team so I think they’re the favorite today. Bulldogs4
USM wins Auburn regional. They should host Tennessee. Higher ranked team with a bigger stadium. Probably gonna be like last year playing against Ole Miss. Tennessee’s pitching is capable of shutting them down. Hall is a great pitcher but USM has to win that game to have a chance. IMO. Yes they lost his game this weekend but UT is on a different level from Samford or Penn.

But I do hope USM gets to host and has a better showing than they did last year when they weren’t really competitive against OM.
David44
USM should host in a fair world. They should have "hosted" the Auburn regional, but the USM AD was not part of the tournament committee. Yes, they certainly need to win the Tanner Hall game 1, but they have some Scott Berry mojo going on now with him retiring. Those kids are playing hard for him. Dawg83
It’s official, Tennessee vs USM will be in Hattiesburg beginning on Saturday. Huge deal for USM. Scott Berry’s final home games will be in a Super Regional. That’s outstanding. Here are all the Super matchups: Tennessee at Southern Miss Kentucky at LSU Alabama at Wake Forest Texas at Stanford South Carolina at Florida Duke at Virginia Indiana State at TCU Oral Roberts at Oregon May be just me but one side of the bracket looks CLEARLY stronger than the other. Bulldogs4
Nobody is talking about Alabama but I will not be surprised if they go into Wake Forest and win the series there. In fact I am picking Bama. I am pulling for USM but beating Tennessee (who nobody likes) is going to be a daunting task. Possible though. The atmosphere is going to be off the charts. LSU over KY. Stanford over TX since they are at home. Florida over SCAR Virginia Slims wins over the Duke TCU routs Indy State Oral Roberts (religion) over Oregon (secular) in a David beats Goliath upset. MSTSatchmo
I know Wake is ranked #1, but they’ve been real impressive. TCU has scored under 12 just once the whole postseason. It’s a pretty wide open field, but those two have been the most impressive to me (S Carolina and Virginia not far behind).

I agree on Wake and TCU. Those two have looked very capable of winning it all. I like both to advance to Omaha. Even though they lost a game last weekend, I still view Florida as the most complete SEC team. That Super against SC is really interesting, SC swept the regular season series, but it was in Columbia and this will be in Gainesville. Virginia/Duke is another interesting one to me, they’ve already played in Charlottesville this year and Duke won that series. The most fun matchup of the weekend might be Oral Roberts and Oregon. They are both playing extremely well right now, and neither team has been to the CWS in decades. I’m not prepared to predict it, but don’t be shocked if Kentucky upsets LSU. I don’t think they’re beating Skenes so they’d need to win Games 2 and 3. But don’t rule it out. Don't have any huge opinions on Stanford/Texas, these are the only teams left in the field that made it to Omaha last year, so both have postseason experience. Give me Stanford at home. And yeah, sorry USM fans, I think Tennessee takes it in Hattiesburg this weekend. I am not sure USM can hit UT’s high end arm talent. Don’t know that it will be as drastic as the OM Super last year, I could easily see USM winning the game that Hall starts. But Tennessee is the more talented team and I think they are starting to get hot at the right time. Edited June 7, 2023 by Dawg83
