maroontide06
It’s a 10 run lead now. Too bad it’s still in the 6th. Now make it 11.
Bulldogs4
Serves us right. Wearing stupid black uniforms. I thought we had finally burned those ridiculous black unis a few years ago. I know these are just black jerseys. But black IS NOT ONE OF OUR COLORS. Just don’t get it. And I know the uniform has nothing to do with how bad we are. But it just compounds it. We have made Kentucky look like the NC’s this weekend.

MSTSatchmo
I think it’s time for State to contact one of those national search firms. Lol.
rebmus
Road series are tough to win in the SEC. #6 Vandy swept #3 Ole Miss. Kentucky swept MSU. Missouri is leading #2 Tennessee 5-1 in the 5th today and may pick up a sweep over them. #1 LSU had a very impressive weekend taking 2 of 3 at #15 A&M. #16 South Carolina picked up a sweep at Georgia which is pretty impressive also. MSU and OM host next weekend but it's against (current) #6 Vandy and #5 Florida, which certainly will be a tough weekend.
Dawg83
I think Ole Miss will be OK, Vandy on the road is one of the toughest series on their schedule. State has much more to be worried about, as Kentucky on the surface appears to be one of the easier series left on their schedule.

I jokingly made the comment to my dad that at least OM got swept by a top ten team. I honestly never loved the high preseason love for OM. It’s tough to replace Elko Graham and Bench. And add the pitching loss to that.
Bulldogs4
So which Mississippi team gets their first SEC win first? Both Vandy and Florida are Top 5 teams. Gosh we could both be 0-6 come Sunday. Though I hope that is not the case. We are both at home but the challenges are formidable. State by sheer dumb luck is due for at least one SEC win but Ole Miss probably has the edge on being first to do so. We will see.
pancho
I'm not sure lemo's crew can pitch well enough or carry out routine defensive plays well enough to win an SEC game. it will be pure luck if they do win one. Bianco has critical pitching issues and the jury is still out on how good his replacement bats(for the guys he lost) really are vs stiff pitching.
maroontide06
And when State walks a guy (which is quite frequent), it ends up being a double because our catchers can't throw 'em out before they get to second base. I think they just let them take it if I'm being honest here.
maroontide06
Ol’ Butch has Auburn playing with some grit. They walked it off with a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 11th. Auburn was down 6-3 going into the bottom of the 9th against Georgia.
Dawg83
Vandy crushing State early, the streak looks like it will hit 15.
Bulldogs4
Vandy 26 State 3 Back in 1982 or 83, State beat Ole Miss 27-10 and then turned around and lost to Ole Miss the next day. But I am not sure if/when this team will win a conference game. We are just plain bad.

maroontide06
Wouldn’t this be equivalent to an 84-0 loss in football?
Bulldogs4
It is the equivalent to losing 3 to 1/3 a run every inning for 9 innings.
pancho
I think the guys are refusing to play for all the coaches. Nothing less than a complete house cleaning is needed ASAP.

I think if State were to allow that to happen, you could go ahead and start the house cleaning process.
Bulldogs4
I don’t know. Coach Polk is 79 years young and has forgotten 10 times more about baseball than any of us have ever learned. But I think he is enjoying retirement these days so just don’t see that happening. Though is Not necessarily a bad idea to get through this year and then hire a new Coach/Staff. I think the question that is on everyone’s mind is this: What is Zac Selmon going to do to stop the bleeding? Baseball season is a long ways from being over with and what can be done to get some interim staff in place, even if you have to bring Coach Polk in on an interim basis. He can go back to being special assistant to the AD and go coach in the Cape Cod League like he likes to do.
rebmus
Due to weather, the OM/Florida series will begin tomorrow. Vandy swept Ole Miss last weekend, so I have zero right to poke fun at MSU for that loss vs Vandy tonight. I will say... yeah, that loss was pretty horrible but it's a VERY LONG season... LIPO (Let It Play Out) before gathering pitchforks.

This team has been outscored 61-14 in four SEC games. They are allowing an average of more than 15 runs. There is bad and then there’s embarrassing the university bad. This is the latter. I mean they aren’t just losing games, haven’t even been remotely competitive in conference play outside of the first Kentucky game. MSTSatchmo
You’re talking about attendance taking a plummet, recruiting being affected, and current players (the decent ones) jumping ship. Two weeks ago most fans were okay with the pitching coach being let go after this season, last week he needed to be let go now and Lemonis was on the hot seat, and now a lot of fans think Lemonis needs to go this week. It will take a hell of a hire to get this program back to the image it had just two years ago after making the CWS practically three years in a row. I’m not worried about that at all. The thing that concerns me is the dugout and what in the world is going on in there. I don’t know if you watched the Lemonis press conference that Robbie had posted last night, but that feller showed absolutely no emotion. Was he in shock (which I seriously doubt), or does he see the writing on the wall? Now in regards to the AD, Zac Selmon, what is he going to do? A great AD certainly doesn’t micromanage, nor should they. Everyone hates a micromanager. But what about stepping in and taking charge when it needs to be done? I certainly don’t have any issues with that and I feel like that is his responsibility. It’s time for Zac Selmon to step in and get to work.
