My sources in Moss Point say there has not been a ton of buzz overall. They did some head coaches that have had past success apply but they are nearing eligibility for retirement and would not be the long term solutions they hope for.

Man surely somebody can bring that program back to being competitive at least.

I just do not see it happening. Crime has taken over the city. Families are moving out more and more. They are on the verge of dropping to a 3A school. The talent pool just is not deep at all from what I have been told. Many families are moving out Pascagoula, Gautier, Ocean Springs, St. Martin, etc. in droves. They will be competitive in 4A because the coast region is not very good. Now if they drop to 3A next count, I could see it getting worse for them.

Long drive for Eegion play in 3A for sure except St Stanislaus and St Patrick.

No big names that they would just give a chance to?

I think with the right guy they would have a chance to turn that around. They always have athletes so its possible. Going to 3A is going to be a booger for them cause 3A is SUPER competitive.

I believe (I could be wrong) the HFC position is no longer tied to the Athletic Director position as both the HFC and AD positions were posted. So the pay most likely will not be that great, the weight room and locker room facilities are okay at best. The playing field is probably the worst of any in the state. There was a big push for funding for turf a few months back I saw going around on social media but I do not know if that has gone anywhere. The talent pool is drying up fast so there will not be a ton of talent. They lost a lot from last years team that made up pretty much their defense. They have a RB/DB who is pretty nice and and OL/DL but that is really it. Moss Point just is not the job it was 20 years ago. Heck even 10 years ago. What "big name" is going to leave where they are at to not make great money, not have great facilities and not have a ton of talent overall? Not to mention the overarching issues within the city and school itself. I do not believe anyone is going to want to move their family there. I believe Moss Point is heading down the road of consolidation with a school district nearby (Pascagoula-Gautier to be specific)

Cosolidation? I don't think any school on the coast would be game for that.

With Boyles taking over at Meridian, there could be quite a few openings as he begins to assemble a staff for the Wildcats?

Meridian had a good staff in place with Douglass. I can see Boyles keeping majority of them and bring just coordinators and maybe one other assistant. I have heard that some of them have been told they are safe.

The name I keep hearing in John Feaster at Stone Co.  He is said to be their top choice.  Whether he would make the move is yet to be seen.

Any word on who Boyles is bringing in with him?

I would be completely shocked if Feaster left what he is building at Stone for Moss Point. Stone is about to build a brand new school with a new on campus football stadium and facility. Hard to imagine he would leave Stone for the ruins that are currently Moss Point.

I totally agree there.  That move wouldn't make any sense at all.  He's doing good things at Stone and they are getting brand new facilities.  I'm sure he wants to be part of that.
