CFB Week 11 Thread

One hasn’t been created yet and don’t care who else plays. This is the biggest game that’s ever happened in Oxford with humongous stakes. Can Ole Miss’ defense get enough pressure on Beck like Florida did last week to make this a ball game? It will all come down to that. My palms are sweaty and about to throw up mom’s spaghetti.

Y’all can fill in the rest of the games.

Just try to enjoy the ride. I get nervous myself, but getting nervous ain’t gonna make a bit of difference in our play.

On another note, what’s up with that injury list we get every Wednesday, but especially this one today. Pretty much everybody outside of Dart is on it. I’m starting to think it doesn’t mean much… ha. Unless it just flat out says OUT.

I think it was the UK game where Kiffin’s injury report during the week consisted of like 30 players. Just him trying to play chess not checkers. The only one that matters is the one 30 mins before game time. The only guys I know we’ll be missing are Parrish and more than likely Prieskorn.

No secret that the keys to the game for Ole Miss is the play of the OL and can the DL get enough pressure to cause Beck to rush throws. Beck has struggled lately when pressured and Ole Miss’ sack leading defensive front pressures more than anyone in the country. Something has to to give. Also can Charlie Weis Jr call the game of his life?

I've been told Weis hasn't called the game since half time of OU.

If I had to answer right away I’d say Thomas is going to be the starter because for some reason Kiffin doesn’t wanna start Bentley. You know another head scratcher when it comes to the RB position? Why did we go out and pull Amos from the transfer portal to use in short yardage and goal line yet all we’ve used is Pegues instead? He hasn’t had a carry since the Georgia Southern game.

Another question I have that I meant to ask last week during the Arkansas game. Why the heck is Ivey playing on the FG unit? Can we not find a guy to replace him to minimize possible injury? That’s when he got banged up in that game.

  • NoWammies changed the title to CFB Week 11 Thread Ole Miss/Georgia Edition

I have Georgia winning in Oxford but expect a really good game. I just don’t totally trust OM based off the early season results. At their ceiling, yes they can win this game. But I’m also wondering if Georgia’s defense causes major issues for them like Kentucky’s did. I think I’ll go UGA 23-17. The vibes on this one feel similar to the 2022 Ole Miss/Bama game that went down to the wire in Oxford.

State is a 24 point dog at Tennessee. I think Tennessee’s defensive front is a really bad matchup for State’s offense. I think the fact that Tennessee fields an offense period is a really bad matchup for State’s defense. Vols win 48-17.

Bama at LSU - I am taking LSU to win at home. Do not rule out LSU’s SEC title chances, even after losing to A&M.

South Carolina at Vandy - fascinating matchup. I’m going with SC, feel like they’re figuring some things out.

Oklahoma at Mizzou - OU is favored in this game? Huh. Is somebody out injured? I like Mizzou at home.

@Dawg83 I normally wait on you for this thread because you do a better job of giving the run downs. My bad bud. I honestly didn’t even know without looking it up who else even played this weekend besides LSU/Bama.

Give me State +24 all day long. As bad as folks say State’s defense has been, other than Sampson, Tennessee’s offense has been just as bad. I think State’s offense can do enough to make this somewhat of a ballgame. Btw, how the heck does Tennessee get another SEC home night game? What are those like? I can’t remember.

Give me LSU in an OT thriller like this game has usually gone lately.

I think USC’s defense will give Vandy probs especially with a banged up Pavia. Can Sellers duplicate his performance from last week? I like USC by 10 if he’s able to.

Without looking it up I can only imagine Cook and the RB are out for Missouri because no other reason I can think of to have OU as a favorite. Especially on the road. If so I still think this is a tossup that’ll go 21-20 either way.

Georgia Ole Miss.

not sure it matters what Beck does. Georgia has proved they can win regardless of his turnovers.

Ole Miss needs to stay balanced and be effective running the ball. Texas rushed for 29 yards and

threw it 49 times, which led to 7 sacks and no chance. Florida rushed for 118 and only threw it

30 times, which kept them in the game late, even with a 3rd string QB.

I wouldn’t exactly say it doesn’t matter what Beck does. I think what matters is how Ole Miss responds if he does turn the ball over. Gotta make them count for points. One of his INT’s against Bama in the 1st half resulted in a Bama TD and momentum to put Georgia in a big hole. His 3rd sealed the game. His 2nd INT that game was returned with a Bama INT. His INT in the 2H of Texas made it a one score game. His other two were returned with Texas turnovers. His INT’s against State made it a ball game even though State didn’t have a run game. If Florida wasn’t on their 3rd QB after Lagway went down they could’ve possibly been costly. I see what you’re saying about Ole Miss needing to be balanced and building up to this game that’s been the question all year. Will need UBIV to have some of his big gains we’ve seen him do in the past and we’ll need the gritty Dart that lowers his shoulders to pick up 1st downs when we need his legs.

Big Picture For Tomorrow

A win tomorrow changes everything for Ole Miss. A win changes the way the outside and media view Ole Miss. A win tomorrow will take away a lot of the Kiffin can’t win the big one narratives. A win tomorrow plus winning out shows the portal is just as important as the high school recruiting class if consistently good at it. A win tomorrow has them high school recruits looking at Ole Miss harder to match up with those portal guys. A win tomorrow keeps the train running for when this dance is over. A win tomorrow will keep the money rolling in where you can get the best talent. Most importantly a win tomorrow shows you CAN win at Ole Miss.

A loss tomorrow and the season is a bust and there will be a lot of questions plus what if’s. Ole Miss has to find a way to finally get out of their own way and take that step. Get rid of the WAOM moment we’ve all become accustomed to that causes us not to get our hopes up. Tomorrow the Ole Miss team we’ve been waiting on all year needs to finally show up!!!

Huge win for OM.  Just take care of business the last two and they’re in the playoff and have a shot at the SECCG.

I never would have thought they’d be in that position with two losses.   Kiffin looked focused today.

It was odd seeing Beck and another player smiling and laughing down 22-10 late in the 4th.

NoWammies Instant Notes

1. Name me a better defensive front in the country. Pay a billion dollars for the defense next year. It doesn’t matter. Break the bank on it.

2. Don’t worry about the QB position because we’re in good position with a guy that looks like another Tua Tagovailoa. Also, I don’t want to see him pitch another baseball. Don’t ruin this Bianco.

3. Great day to have the best high school talent in MS and other 5 stars in the country show up.

4. PLEASE don’t go and lose to Florida or State now.

You ain’t gotta worry about Ole Miss losing to State.  Tennessee just threw a TD pass wide open.  Gonna be a long night for State.

As an Ole Miss fan I once watched us beat Bama in Tuscaloosa then get blown out at Florida and Memphis plus a team convert on a 4th and 25 in the same season. I worry every Saturday.

Kiffin will always have a QB and playmakers.  He showed what you need to compete for titles is build a physical DL.  Yeah LBs and DBs are important too, but a physical DL will win championships.

Damn does UGA drop a ton of balls. All season long that’s been an issue.   They still have Tennessee on the schedule too.  A win against TN adds another 2 loss team to the mix.  It’s going to be an entertaining finish to the season.
