Ok that's obvious but it's not like they pay bad at OS. It's higher pay than some other 6A programs and Gulfport came off the money.

I agree. I think it's an attractive job based on pay, facilities, and location.

They have way more athletes year in and year out than OS.

I actually think the majority of their team was juniors. I only assume that because a few years ago we played them in 9th grade and they were really good. That group should be seniors this year.

Depends on what region we're in. When we were in region 3 the Pine Belt covered us more. We get Coast coverage a lot because we've typically always been in that region. I do remember back in the early to mid 2000s that region games for GC were Laurel, South Jones, Picayune, Forrest Co., Petal, Stone, and PRC. That's kinda all over the map though.

It's always hard to decipher this. I've always felt GC wasn't coast. People in the Pine Belt call us the coast. People on the coast don't consider us the coast. I don't really know what we are.

Look, I'm not hating but almost everybody else that played Gautier used that defense. Picayune was too stubborn to do it the first time and it almost burned them. They also played their normal 4 man against Gautier last year. It took two times then they finally changed it at South State. It's only common sense to drop 8 vs them. They're air raid. Even Alabama does that against Mississippi State. But you're right. No other coaching staff in the state would've thought to drop 8 against a team that throws the ball 9 out of 10 plays.

Again, I'm not saying he's not good. Definitely didn't intend for that to be point taken.

I don't care about downvotes. I'm just getting at that I'm pretty confident Lee could've done this with this team. It doesn't discredit who is there now. By all accounts he's very good, but it's fool's gold to deny that he was handed a very good situation.

I'm pretty confident almost any coach would be considered "best coach in the state" if they had that roster.

If I’m not wrong, and I could be, GC is actually the last Coast team to play for it all in the biggest classification back in 2007. I very well could be wrong though. I know Goula played for 5A in 2012 as did Picayune a few times. I cant think of anyone since 2009 when 6A started that has played in it from the coast. I’m probably wrong though.

obviously Picayune is really good. You also know that Laurel is accustomed to playing them. Also, there's been times this year where Picayune didn't light up the scoreboard but their defense was their calling card. I personally think last years OL was better for Picayune. Dowdell breaks a lot of tackles in the backfield which is one reason why he is so good. He's hard to get down on first contact. West Jones will be a tough out. Should be a good game but anyone hoping for a Picayune blowout may want to rethink things. Doesn't mean it won't happen. If both teams bring their A game then it will be a close nail biter.
