You’re right. The future is bright at GC. Looking forward to the game at Picayune. Could decide the region title again.
-
I remember that. Always been some good battles between Picayune and GC. GC is young this year. Looking forward to a great year.
-
Same thing for GC when they were in in region 3-6A

GC lost to SP in 2007 28-21 in 5A title game.
-
Didn't take it as a knock. No harm done.
-
Meh, I disagree. Especially on the "I am not sure if it's close" comment

He graduated. His backup last year was a bigger back but was a sophomore. He's around the size of Picayune's back. He's pretty athletic for his size and has pretty good speed. Excited to watch him play this year.

George County returns Deuce Knight who finished the year as the starter as a freshman when senior Hollins went down vs Picayune.

They split years ago and WH was made.

Not to rain on your parade or anything but WH was up 21-20 at halftime against GC. They successfully recovered 2-3 onside kicks in the first half and GC missed first XP and was stopped 1/2 yard short of their 2pt conversion on their second TD. GC was up 12-7. Down 14-12 then 21-12 in 2nd quarter. Backed WH up and made them punt. Trent Howell returned the punt for a TD and scored the 2pt conversion to pull within 21-20. GC ten proceeded to shut them out and put up 4 more TDs in the second half. Now, I understand your reasoning but to just say WH success this season is based on last season's 2nd quarter lead against GC is kind of out there especially when they closed out the season with a 3 TD loss to PRC.

Who will benefit from the new Classifications the most?
CrimsonUnit1988 replied to JRoss1958's topic in Football
I'm talking about for the 23 season when this starts. If they don't start until 25 (according to Rebel Bert) then I don't know why they were included in the numbers post for North and South possibilities. Bottom line is that if they don't play until 25 that means we have a whole other reclass to go. -

So they're irrelevant in this count then. That skews the numbers for what you posted. -

When is Simpson County going to actually start playing? -
Reclassification Could Occur As Soon as This Fall (22-23)

Exactly. The ones complaining are not affected ever. Also, like you said, the classes aren't watered down. I mean, if you take out the best teams and put them in a class that has really freaking good teams then how is that watered down? If a class seems to have less "name brand" teams then that class is pretty competitive within itself which means it's not watered down. That's the lamest argument I've seen made on here. 5A still has the 5A powerhouses in Picayune, Laurel, West Point, Wayne Co, Laffayette, and there's plenty more. 6A has South Panola, Pearl, Petal, West Jones, Pascagoula, Hattiesburg, Neshoba Central, Grenada, Lake Cormorant, and George Co. Those are probably the best teams in 6A. Can throw Gautier in there as well. It's all a lot more competitive than some make it out to be. -
Crazy part is that the DC helped the OC (new HC) get the OC job in the first place.

My bad. I added the other south region as well. I have an idea for the north but not quite sure on it yet. -

I think there is potential for Pearl to be 7A and Natchez drop to 5A. Picayune and Brookhaven could move up to 6A. Of course this all hinges on what happens with all the other schools' numbers as well. Just because one school grows doesn't mean they're 100% moving up because other schools may grow as well. As of now (based on last count which you can't rely on) South 6A could look like Region 3- Petal, Hattiesburg, Pearl, Natchez, West Jones, and one of the JPS schools. Region 4- George County, Pascagoula, Gautier, PRC, West Harrison, Long Beach. -

I think it's awesome. Very needed. I don't think there is a "watered down" competition component. It's still all the same schools playing each other. It's just not 1900 students vs 1000 students anymore which is roughly 450 more boys from the top of 6a to the bottom of it. This is strictly basing things off of football and such but you get the picture. If that's seen as a "watering down" then ok. I see it as more even playing fields which is the total opposite of "watered down." -
If St. Martin drops that may screw GC on travel.
-
Yeah my bad. Looks like they all start playoffs the same week and 7A gets a week off as opposed to the opposite MS does with 5A and 6A where they start playoffs a week later than 2A-3A.
-
Alabama gives all state championship participants a week off prior to title game and they start on Wednesday with 7A and go through Friday.
-
Yeah I think everybody is ok with one long trip. It's when it is 3-4 that makes it tough.
-
I don't think those are bad trips. GC never minded traveling to OG or Petal. It was the Brandon, Pearl, NWR, Jim Hill, Terry, and Meridian trips that sucked.
-
This looks like a current classification scenario if 7A wasn't introduced.
