  1. 1993 They went 11-3 and lost in the semis to Okolona. 1994 they lost to Taylorsville in the title game. 1995 was his first season at WC.
  2. Correct and didn't win but lost the title game to Taylorsville in 1994.
  3. Defense is banged up. Both ILBs are hurt but playing through it. Lost a starter on DL a few games back. Bradley didn't play on the backend. The defense has carried this team all season. The offense definitely picked up it's end tonite. Turnovers continue to be an issue for the offense. Another turnover that led directly to a TD for Goula tonite. I'm not real sure what the number is this year but there has been multiple and KO coverage is getting better but not where they want it to be I'm sure. The coaches will get that worked out though.
  4. Man, you ain't lying. That was some dang good coaches at that point. Jones started at GC the year before Pierson took over. I think Jones would've actually stayed at GC and not retired when he did if it wasn't for administration that had came in while he was there. He would've stayed longer and then Pierson went on for 20 years at WJ. I still remember that 2002 playoff game at WJ when GC elected for a free kick at the end of the half and nailed it from 50+ yards. Won 17-12 and was WJ's only loss that season.
  5. I remember those days as well but we both know that 4A then is basically what 5A is now with a mix of the 6A teams. Early 2000s, 4A South was arguably the strength of MS football give or take a few years. Back then you had GC, d'Iberville, Picayune, South Pike, McComb, Laurel, Wayne Co (dropped to 4A), Brookhaven, West Jones. Those were some tough outs.
  6. Yeah, I believe GC had like 10 plays offensively in the 2nd half.

    Petal.

That's crazy to me. I kind of remember that though but it is a weird dynamic. I'd understand if you said a Richton or another small school in that area.

    Petal.

Ok, so what is the connection between Poplarville and Petal? It's like 50 miles apart so it's not like it's an easy commute. What's the deal with that?
  9. I mean you're somewhat right but it was 21-21 in 4th quarter. To me that's not finishing in the 4th. We may both view it differently. But you're right in the fact that you can't have only 3 plays in the 3rd quarter and expect to win.
  10. Best player on their defense IMO. I know Waller is great but man, Tyson is really good.
  11. Good game to Picayune. And Wayne Co fans getting on here complaining about officials is really rich considering you cant breathe a certain way in Waynesboro without a flag but that’s a different story for a different day. GC fought hard. Knew it was gonna be a tough task. Couldn’t finish in the 4th quarter. Hats off to Picayune. Hopefully we’ll see a rematch. Great team as always.
  12. I'm not. I was using the scores that someone else alluded to GC giving up and setting the record straight that the defense has given up a lot of points. That's a game that really sticks out on the radar. That's all my point was. Gonna be a tough game for GC but that was known before the season started. Only trying to point out that it will be a better game than in the past couple of years. Can GC win? Yes. Will they? We'll see. A lot of things can happen in a game and when you have a really good QB and skill players it can make some things interesting.
  13. Again, if what I say holds true, NO TURNOVERS, then this will be a game. The reason the defense has "given up" the points you speak of is there have been bad special teams play and turnovers that have directly led to points. For reference, the Biloxi game when GC started it's third string QB there was a pick 6, a blocked punt for a TD, and a bad snap/recovery on a punt that directly led to 3 TDs for Biloxi. The defense gave up 13 points in the game and the offense scored 14 and they also gave up right at 200 yards of total offense in that game so there are some misleading scores. So, back to what I've said. If the Rebels can clean up the turnovers and play better on special teams (they've allowed 3-4 KOs for TDs this year) then it will be a game they can win. If they don't clean that up then it's going to be an awfully long night because Picayune is too good to give them extra opportunities.
  14. I'd agree. Picayune can win the district outright Friday night. GC could as well IF they were to pull off the upset and IF West Harrison were to beat Goula. Still think Picayune and GC will be the top two seeds in the region. Picayune is so experienced and GC has been somewhat banged up with no bye week to recover with earlier in the year. I think it's going to be a good game. I think GC can make some plays against this team and I think they can actually win. It's going to take an absolute team effort to win but it can be done. I also look for this to be somewhat low scoring but I'm usually wrong when I say that. I'd say 28 points would be the high mark for either team IF there aren't a lot of turnovers. If GC turns the ball over like they have in the past then it's gonna be a long night. If they can keep the turnovers clean like last week then it could get interesting. The ball is oblong and bounces funny sometimes.
  15. And I seriously think you have no clue what you're talking about and have not watched GC play yet. GC cannot turn the ball over which has been their biggest issue all year and KO returns. Clean those two things up and it creates a more even game. Taking nothing away from Picayune at all but GC can get stops against them this year. Doesn't mean a shut out. It means they won't score every drive like the last couple years.
  16. He was still hurt in his first game back against Hattiesburg and has gotten better and more in rhythm each week. He had a big game this past week against WH where they scored 54 points which is the season high so far.
  17. George Co has gotten significantly better on defense over the last year. They'll actually be able to stand in there and get stops against Picayune and they do have the playmakers to take advantage of Picayune's defense as well. Big thing is holding onto the football because you CANNOT give Picayune extra possessions. Should be a good one in Lucedale. Obviously with Hancock losing Friday to Goula it put Picayune in a situation where they can lock up the region with a win. GC could have if Hancock would've won (still can with a Goula loss to WH) but would more likely have to win Friday and next week to lock up the region title. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the last game between these two teams.
  18. Play defense like they've been playing but eliminate the turnovers. The turnovers have really kept other teams in games with GC and I'm talking like multiple turnovers. I think against Hattiesburg they turned it over around 5 times and the same can be said for the Wayne Co. game. Wayne Co's only TD in regulation was a pick 6, Biloxi won by three scores and all three scores were special team miscues on punt (bad snap and a block) and another pick 6 by the offense. Otherwise GC wins the game 14-13 with their 3rd string QB. Defense has been dang near close to lights out. The turnovers have put them in bad spots and there's even been a few KO returns for TDs on them this year. Bottom line: Continue stellar defensive play. Eliminate turnovers. Continue to run the ball and don't get fancy/cute. Take advantage of the superior athletes and speed and let them play. GC can win this game convincingly IF they do these things. Just got to do them. The coaches have done a good job with the gameplans. I think it boils down the players holding onto the football.
  19. Fair point BUT the last time Hancock beat GC was 9-7 in 1993. So in all reality GC has been the better program when compared to Hancock so it's not out of the question to say this is a legit measuring stick for Hancock. Based on GC's schedule and Hancock's I'd think it's pretty easy to say which one has been tougher and it's pretty easy to think that Hancock might not have beaten WC with their 3rd string QB like GC did. People forget that and GC is good on defense. Should be a good game.
  20. Ok that makes sense but wasn’t that just a COVID rule?
  21. Can anyone find the rule about this? I've looked and unless I'm overlooking it, I can't find one about a player having to sit in this situation. The caveat is always being a MEMBER school and Lipscomb is not a member of MHSAA. Not sure if there's a precedence for this. I always come back to this one: 2.24.1 Students of member schools who attended non-member Mississippi private schools during the preceding school session may return to their home school without loss of residence eligibility. Anyway, I don't know.
  22. Ok man. Have you watched them? Have you seen the skill players at Greene? Greene has two D1 WRs and a really good offensive scheme. Pascagoula held EC to 7 as well but we're not heaping on them. Anyway, they're improved. It shows. This helps both sides. You get your QB back and another starting safety back and they're both big time athletes. Obviously the jury is still out but the eye test definitely says they're better on defense and they run the ball better offensively than a year ago.
  23. Vastly improved on defense. Mostly sophomores a year ago. Now, a year of experience under their belt.
  24. Starting QB is probably happy because he's a WR and would probably rather play WR.
