That makes sense. Seems like it's similar to new proposal but without 7A. I think it's easier to fit the numbers in 7 classifications which is one reason why they're doing it that way. Let's all be real for second too, we all know it's a money maker having an extra state championship game. It is what it is. I like the 7A idea. I'd be good with your proposal as well because it evens it out too. I do think there is a massive gap in 6A currently and either way it's "fixed" in both scenarios.

Agree. I’ve always thought it was dumb to even assume having the 6A vs 5A champ play each other. You’d have an issue with the other classifications too. You want there to be a playoff if state champs? It’s pretty obvious typically who would win.

Not sure where he's getting numbers from. May know something we don't but the numbers haven't been counted yet. Based off the last count (I know you can't write this in stone) the coast 6A teams would be George County, West Harrison, Pascagoula, Gautier, Long Beach, PRC. East Central, Picayune, and Vancleave would be 5A. All current 6A schools minus Pascagoula would move to 7A. This is obviously based off the 24 (7a), 24 (6a), 24 (5a) model and based off the most recent count. Could change a bit but I don't see it changing massively if we're honest.

Picayune is 5 places behind Gautier. It's Gautier, Ridgeland, Brookhaven, Provine, Wayne County, then Picayune. This is based off of the last count.

Bruh. Seriously, you can say that all you want. When is the last time Picayune was 6A? I'll answer it for you. Not once. They've been 5A before and was 4A in early 2000s with GC. To say they bounce around 3 classifications is absolutely telling at how little you know. They've been in 5A and are firmly planted in 5A with not shot of moving to 6A unless they consolidate to Pearl River County High School. They have 838 students. To make 6A you need at least 1000 to start to even possibly make that jump. Again, it's not broke for Picayune and of course it doesn't bother you.

Picayune will be 5A still if it goes to 7 classifications.

If the new plan goes through and 7A is top 24 then the top school and bottom school (using the most recent count) would be Tupelo at 1907 and Terry at 1219. That's 688 students difference. Yes, that's a gap but compare that to Center Hill who has 1047 students and it's effectively a 5A school difference. High end 5A to be exact. I used the example earlier but I know when George County was smallest 6A school that there was a bigger gap between them and Tupelo than there was between GC and Taylorsville which was the smallest 2A school at the time. That's insane to think about. So you're idea of not solving the enrollment gap with 7 classifications is pretty farce.

The gap is actually closer to 900 from top of 6A to bottom. There was a smaller gap between George County and Taylorsville than there was between Tupelo and George County. Also, I don't get why people would be against it at all. It literally harms no school involved and only helps pretty much every school.

Disagree. The disparity is between 6A and 5A. With your concept it would be the same situation. there would be a team in 4A on the 5A bubble. It's literally the same in the top 64 like it is now which is where there is a gap. The 7A concept creates better parity and it also creates better travel for most schools.

Well there are 33 in 5A this year.

You’re confusing me on the OLA deal. That is St. Stanislaus. It’s just the girls part of the school. So wherever St Stan is is where OLA would be.
