Traditionally strong Programs who have Fallen On Hard Times
maroontide06 replied to EnterpriseBulldogsFan's topic in Football
Why do you keep digging your hole even further? First of all, this is a classless thread to have even started and now you've thrown a program like South Panola under the bus. You state, "You don't have to win state titles to be a strong program just win consistently." If that's the case South Panola shouldn't be on your list along with probably a pile of others. -
If you truly want to help, please pour a bag of lime in the outhouse. It's getting stinky in there.
-
State fans have been wanting to "Bring Bump Home" for years. Hopefully it will finally happen.
-
Something must be in the works though because Drew Hollingshead isn't being retained and neither is Steve Spurrier Jr., so lets see what happens in regards to the offense.
-
Did Mississippi State formally offer the job to Kendal? And if so does State have the necessary capital to hire him away? I would think they would, but you never know.

I honestly think the recipe for Zach Arnett's success as a head coach in the short run will be to give autonomy to whichever Offensive Coordinator he hires, but still have the final stamp of approval and then let himself have control over the defensive side of the ball. It almost needs to be a Leach reversal of sorts kind of where Leach let Zach control the defense. I'm sure Leach had the final say on things as the Head Coach, but he pretty much let Zach do his thing and for Zach to let the Offensive Coordinator do his thing will probably bode well for Zach in the short term. The only reason why I say short term is because of the annual turnover with coaching staffs. Mike Leach proved to be the exception there and I'm glad we had that coaching stability under him.

If this works out, the wheel won't have to be reinvented and he's already got a pass heavy offense to work with so hopefully something will come about. It almost sounds like a better offense for Chris Parson to get in.

Traditionally strong Programs who have Fallen On Hard Times

If hard times is equivalent to a state title drought, then go ahead and throw Enterprise Clarke in that list as well. But wait, the title of the thread says "Traditionally strong programs", so disregard that line of thought . -
Does he take snaps from under center at all with his offense? If so, I think State fans would be extremely on board with him.

Here's my question in regards to 7A. Does anyone in 7A have a tougher gauntlet in 7A than Picayune? We've got 3 of the top 4 on our schedule and Gulfport and Brandon are both road games for us. We also have d'Iberville on the road as well and they are no slouch either. If Picayune gets through the 7A gauntlet unscathed (which I'm not expecting at this point), does Picayune have to play in the 7A title game in lieu of the 6A title game?
-
Vott, you won't get any arguments from me with these picks. I know 5A had to be the toughest to pick. My initial reaction at seeing Stone at the bottom of Region 4 was like, "This can't be right" but then when you start looking at the region at a whole it's an absolute gauntlet and then your picks made sense. In other words there was no right or wrong there, but Stone must be losing a good bit. That would be the only reason that pick would make sense there. Great job with these. I'll tip my cap to this for sure.

I think the 1 & 2 picks in region 3 are probably interchangeable at this point, but if Hattiesburg continues the tear they went on during the regular season then they probably will remain the favorites. Now in region 4 I think the 4 & 5 spots could be interchangeable, but I think you're probably spot on with that preseason prediction in region 4. Until West Harrison makes the playoffs (which they've never done), then you have to leave them out but they are definitely making some positive strides and Hancock is definitely beatable for them. Not saying it will happen, but it's a feasible outcome.

Well I guess we will be getting our whelps in early. The only one missing from our equation is Oak Grove, but hey we do have a week 2 opening so maybe things can be arranged to complete the quartet. Right now it's just a trio, but probably a nasty one at that.

I was just coming on to post about this, but what are your thoughts if that is the route that State wants to go? I don't know enough about him to express any kind of opinions, but would that be a good hire for State if they can pull it off?
-
We had a Maroon Tide football player play for TCU back in the late 90s and early 2000s. His name is Greg Walls and he was a starter for them. He was a real good defensive back and was probably Dodd’s first D1 prospect as a Head Coach at Picayune.
-
I wonder if Scott Central would be willing to travel to Picayune because we need a home game week 2 very badly.

Clicks, pops & white noise. A high fidelity production. That’s what he’s hearing LOL!

@mhswriterthis is a welfare check. We want to make sure you are doing ok. Heck you can PM me if you want if you don't want to post. You were a great asset and moderator to this board back in the day.

Poor ol’ Dart has taken a beating in this game. That feller is tough as nails.
-
Hold on. Did they just say Altmeyer was in the portal? If so why did he suit up and go in the game? Please help me to understand.

Great predictions here. You read that Ole Miss game like a newspaper . I guess that comes with the territory of keeping your friends close and your enemies closer. Great job !
-
Man Ole Miss is self destructing.

History has definitely been made tonight. It’s the first time I’ve ever seen a cowbell with a Hotty Toddy on the back of an Ole Miss helmet. I wonder if the Mike Leach sticker is on the back of that helmet with some resentment? There shouldn’t be but I can’t help but wonder about that.
