Now I will say this, if there is a need for districts to consolidate then it needs to be done on a local, county wide level and not done through the legislature. Government is already big enough, don't you think? What may work well in one county, may not work well in another. Just take Carroll County and Harrison County as examples. Carroll County has one district for the entire county and that works because the population is so sparse there. In Harrison County you have multiple districts because the population is so big there. I realize there's give and take with all of this, but it obviously would need to make sense. I understand the "elimination of duplication" argument, but when districts are already so big, why do you want to put more on their plate?
-
These "multiple districts" have been around a whole lot longer than you and I have been alive. You are entitled to your opinion, but things have been just fine for years. I can promise you that things wouldn't go too well if something like this passes.
-
I think he went to Tulsa or some place like that.
-
But in all reality, I think you take things in how they come. If State were to get a QB from the portal before they get an OC then so be it. I think they would prefer things to be the other way around, but sometimes you can't control those things. They'll get an OC soon enough.
-
Well they were after defensive backs before the QB's decided to enter the portal, but now I would think since they've got the DB's now they can go after a QB. I just don't know if they want the future OC to be a part of that process.
-
Just come down here to St. Joe Brick in Pearl River and you can pick your color, type, size, etc. I guess the stuff in Madison will suffice though.
-
The author of this bill is a Democrat. What else is needed to be said about this?
-
I would like to think that is a priority for Zach Arnett, but does he want to get the OC position settled before he goes shopping for a QB in the portal?
-
If the chalk holds for both teams then yes, but Picayune has to win the district and PRC has got to get the 4 spot. If they lay the proverbial egg and let everyone in region 3 beat them, they are officially scrambled at that point and Owen is probably a burnt piece of toast. Scrambled eggs and burnt toast - what a great breakfast to have LOL!
-
Picayune will play PRC this year, just not Poplarville though I would have rather played them instead. I guess scheduling conflicts prevented that from happening, but hopefully we can get them back in the rotation in a couple of years along with the folks in Bassfield.
-
Did you dream about Marcus Boyles? I think good things are headed Meridian's way.
-
Region 3 isn't real difficult to figure out, the real question is who is going to get the region 3-6A crown this year. It'll be a battle between Hattiesburg and West Jones for sure, but it won't be until the last game of the regular season. PRC should be improved somewhat, but how much though remains to be seen. If they end up in the 5 spot, then I think you'll probably hear some noise from Blue Devil country. If they remain at par (aka the 4 spot) it should be business as usual there.
-
If 5A south comes down to Wayne County and Laurel, then give me Wayne County. There's no excuse for them not to be better than Laurel.
-
I'm certainly not speaking on behalf of wpgreenwave51, but through process of elimination and the visual eye test it looks like they very well could be seeing Wayne County. I could be totally wrong there, but which team in regions 3&4 of 5A will pose a greater threat than Wayne County? If you can come up with an answer there I honestly would love to hear it.

I guess this question just popped into my brain, but what is Joe Judge doing right now? I figure he’s in the NFL somewhere and I guess has no desire to get back into college football, but if he did is the bridge with Mississippi State still standing or did it get burned 3 years ago?
-
You make some valid points here and I certainly don't think Meridian fans are scheduling championship parades at this point, but they needed a hire like this for their sake and for the sake of Mississippi High School Football in general. I know things at Meridian are a far cry from where they were, but if there's anyone that can resurrect a storied program like Meridian it's got to be Marcus Boyles. The man has won at a high level everywhere he's been and is there any physical hard proof evidence that he can't do it at Meridian? I'm sure he's bringing every piece of luggage he has to Meridian.
-
PRC is looking like our off week before district play starts. I think we'll probably need to rest some guys that week.
-
They beat Zachary 24-21 during the regular season and then lost to John Curtis by the same score in the 3rd round of the Louisiana playoffs. They look like they'll be a real challenge, but we will need that.
-
Really? I'm going to have to check that out. Hopefully it's a home game for us because we need one badly.
-
There ain't no if about it. Congrats on your new coach! You definitely have every right to be excited about this.

Well whatever deal they made with Coach Boyles was obviously good enough for both sides and today is a great day for Meridian Football. They are now relevant again and they should be.
-
I wouldn't touch that plague infested thing with a 50 mile long pole LOL!
-
Great hire for Meridian.

Yes the article is on WTOK, so this is legit news for sure.
