Even so that could be an improvement and if you could move the jamborees to the last Friday in August for 5A-7A that would help things as well. The fan inside of me isn’t a fan of fewer football games, but I’ll take the trade-off for a September start date for sure.

It most definitely is but even if they could shift everything back just one week, I think that would be a big difference. Instead of having state championships the first weekend in December, go ahead and move them back to the second weekend. That certainly wouldn’t be detrimental by any means.

Region 3-6A and region 2-7A will have only 4 division games. So yes I can definitely see the argument there especially starting the seasons after Labor Day, but that doesn't appear to be happening for some reason or another.

Picayune had that week 2 opening for the longest, but they filled it with a school from Baton Rouge. It's been a good minute since Picayune has played Wayne County, but hopefully we can get y'all in the rotation soon.

I agree with everything you said by 2,000%. I think ya'lls region will be the most competitive in the South 5A-7A, but 5A North is weaker than watered down sweet tea. I hate the 7 class system as well, but it's probably here to stay unless the MHSAA decides to get ungreedy.

West Jones will be 6A, so Wayne County doesn't have to worry about them come playoff time.

You can call me crazy and I may have to eat some crow later on (which I'm perfectly ok with), but I just don't see Wayne County losing to Laurel even if they have to play them twice.

The 8/24 game at Oak Grove looks like a tough one right out of the gate for Wayne County, but the rest of the tougher opponents they have, they get them at home. From the eye test it looks like a favorable schedule for the War Eagles. If they don't run the table in 4-5A, I'll be surprised. Having Laurel at home will be huge for Wayne County.

I'm not going to argue with you and I'm not trying to "win" an argument. You have every right to your opinion, but if doing that lowers your millage rate then by all means go for it. I think there's bigger fish to fry than to worry about consolidating school districts. If you want consolidated districts so badly then there needs to be freedom of choice. In other words parents should have the right to send their child to any school within that district without having to pay an out of district tuition. For example: If a family of a child lives in Picayune and wants to send their kid to Poplarville, then they should be able to do that without penalty or without having to pay tuition. See how this works?

Is Coach Washington going to remain on staff? If so, that's good news to my ears. He's such a nice man. Me and my boy met him on the sideline at the Long Beach game when he came to do some recruiting and he could have talked to us forever. He is so down to earth and I hope we can keep him.

State should be better this year, but time will eventually tell though. I think they will have a bounce back year, but baseball is a funny sport. Hopefully State can get hot at the right time to be able to have some success this year. USM and Ole Miss should be in regional play without any issues. Hopefully State gets enough conference wins to get them in a regional hosting spot. Dudy Noble is far too great of a venue not to be hosting.
