Yes this is definitely correct for public schools. I'm not sure about private schools. Yes I completely understand where you are coming from. If a supplement could help make up some (if not all) of the shortfall for a head coach without a degree, it would give schools another avenue to hire a head coach. I realize this will never come to fruition, but if there ever was a mass shortage of head coaches in the future it might be worth looking in to.

They would have to go through the interview process and spell out their vision just like a coach with a degree. If a candidate without a degree passes the interview process and impresses the folks who want to hire him, then I don't see anything wrong with it. He certainly wouldn't have the same pay as a coach with a degree, but maybe you can get someone who just genuinely loves to coach and has a greater passion for it.
-
Take some Tylenol LOL! Just kidding though. There may have been a time years ago when football was in it's infancy that Head Coaches didn't have college degrees. I realize those requirements have changed and I was just trying to think outside the box to increase the coaching pool options for PRC.
-
I'm aware of that. I just think head coaches need to coach and not have to worry about teaching a class. If a head coach was not required to teach a class, then why would they need a teaching degree? Give schools the option to hire head coaches without 4 year degrees and adjust pay accordingly.
-
Well they certainly don’t and they might have to loosen the restrictions (a.k.a. 4 year degree) to get someone to take the job. It would definitely increase the options and you really just need someone with some old fashioned football knowledge who can coach players up. This whole needing a 4 year degree to coach football is a serious drag in these expensive modern times in which we live.

State might need to bring Jake Mangum back sooner rather than later.
-
@Dawg83I think your concerns about Bulldog pitching have come to fruition today.
-
VMI has 13 runs on 5 hits.
-
This baseball game today against VMI is absolutely crazy. State’s pitching has been terrible .

I was thinking the same thing. We ain’t got no castles and knights over here LOL!

That's quite interesting. I honestly had no idea where he was or what he was doing. He can coach those Pearl River Rebels as long as he wants to for all I care.
-
He went 42-31 with a district championship. They've struggled since he left, but who knows if he could make a go of it the second go round. It'll definitely be tougher than before. The wins will definitely be harder to come by, but PRC has to start somewhere. I guess I'm just skeptical if something like this would work since history has shown it here in Pearl River County that it doesn't work.
-
Does PRC want to take that gamble? If so, more power to them.
-
Poplarville tried this model with Morris before they hired Mancuso and it didn't work out so well. PRC doesn't need to make the same mistake as Poplarville in that regard. History exists so that you can learn from it.
-
If he does the Maroon Tide will be ready, but in all honesty why do they need to pull out an old drum to beat? I wouldn't see this working out very well. If they good folks in Hurley had their fill of him, what makes him think he's got a bridge left to come back to Carriere that hasn't been blown up by nitro glycerin when he left?
-
If it's McNair, I hope some Mancuso rubbed off on him during his time at Prentiss. I realize they couldn't give the job to two individuals and his overall record leaves some to be desired, but it's no worse than what they had.

Is it Hammond?

Like how far north? Bangor, Maine?

PRC needs a coach who has the age and maturity level to be the Head Coach/A.D. and also has a zero tolerance policy for parents hanging around the field house/sidelines/hanging over the fence. It's not a good look and a coach who doesn't put up with that kind of junk and can put the fear into some parents will do some good things there.
-
He's Seth's DC at the River.
-
There's a T.C. Chambliss who's been at Columbia Academy the last couple of years, but I don't know if that's an attractive hire for PRC if that's who he is talking about.
-
No I don't coach LOL! But the potential would be there for it to be a good hire. He's definitely a winner and I know Seth would support whatever he would decide, but man what a momentum killer for Seth.
-
birth = newborn = child = experienced football coach? What the heck - I'll run with that logic LOL!
-
I don't think Seth would want him to leave The River. He's got a good thing going there being the Defensive Coordinator. I don't see this as a step up for him.
-
This is an assumption (we all know what that means), but if PRC does go the Brian Ford route will he also be the AD? I'm thinking it'll be a Head Coach/A.D. position. If he wants the job it's probably his and hopefully he'll get to bring some luggage with him.
