  1. I personally think Tennessee would have to come to Hattiesburg, but Southern Miss needs to beat Penn today.
  2. The decrepid Tim Corbin’s go down today. Great job Xavier!
  3. It’ll be interesting to see how this pans out. I feel like there’s probably going to be a good bit of game hopping when Wayne County and Wayne Academy have home football games on the same Friday nights. I mean if I lived in Waynesboro, I would definitely want to do it.
  4. So is this a bad move? I’m confused LOL!
  5. It’s a glorious day, ain’t it. @slicklizardI think you must be thrilled about this.
  6. Lionpack, I think you’re a good poster on here, but please try not to make yourself look ignorant. I seriously doubt he’s been ran off anywhere and I don’t know what happened at Neshoba, but I can promise you if there was something he didn’t like about that program or if they weren’t going to give him the liberty he needed to be their head coach then they probably had some unreconcilable differences. He’s won over 60% of his games, won a state title at Lumberton, played for another against his future team on the opposite sideline with Simmons, and has been a head coach for over 20 years. He’s had way more success than a majority of Mississippi High School Head Football Coaches and most importantly he’s a good coach. It may be difficult to win at Southeast Lauderdale and it may take some time, but it certainly isn’t impossible. I think there will be an improvement there in year 1, even if the improvement is small.
  7. I know. I'm enjoying this weather while I can. I don't think we'll have it too much longer.
  8. Can I order some cool weather to go along with it? LOL!
  9. That's what I'm curious to see - How much better will Southeast Lauderdale be with Brian Ford at the helm? I really think they will be better and more competitive. I don't know if that will equate to more wins, but it should. Maybe a few more because they should have some winnable games on their schedule. Even if their improvements don't show up as wins in the win/loss column, there will definitely be improvements because there are small victories within the game that will not show up via the scoreboard. Getting a state title winning coach at Southeast Lauderdale has no doubt breathed some fresh life into that program.
  10. Here’s a random question for you Wayne County folks. Whatever happened to Dietric Slater? Even though it wasn’t, it just seems like it was yesterday when he was playing basketball for Rick Stansbury and the Bulldogs. He was a special athlete for sure.
  11. State added Andrew Taylor from Marshall. I think he'll wind up being like a Shane Power. So yes, I think State has addressed that need and there's probably someone from the recruiting class that can shoot the 3 as well.
  12. From what I saw on PRC's Touchdown Club fb page, it appears to be a Blue vs. Black scrimmage, so there must not be an actual "opponent" per se. If that's the case, I wonder why they won't be having it at Hendrix Stadium on campus? It seems like that would be the more convenient route, but I guess the change of scenery might do some good for them.
  13. I agree that State should be preseason top 25 this coming November, but I wouldn’t depend upon the major sports networks getting onboard with that line of thought. I don’t even think they have State in the projected field of 68. I think that just shows how credible they are.
  14. Will they even have an opponent? Or is it amongst themselves?
  15. In regards to a 100% pitching staff overhaul, one pitcher that State is going to get is Will Passeau. That young man is the caliber of player that you want if you’re State. He can pitch and he can hit. You may need him to do both.
  16. Great response there. I completely understand when you say you're not the WC of old, but I honestly feel like this is a year for Wayne County to make some deep playoff (late November/early December) type noise. Will it happen? I honestly don't know right now, but I feel like this is an opportunity year for y'all.
  17. The bottle is constantly pouring, but it never runs out. The glass is constantly filling, but it never overflows. What a predicament to be in!
  18. Here's the thing. West Point is going to need some competition in 5A and they sure as heck won't get it from the North, so who from 5A South can provide that competition? I feel like the path is much clearer now for Wayne County to get there and that may be a good thing since we've gone to 7 classifications. Which team in 5A South can the Maroon Tide pass the 5A torch to? The answer to this question better not be Laurel or Gautier LOL!
  19. Vott, if State can sweep A&M it will give them 11 wins, so an 11-19 record is the best State can do. If 11-19 is better than Georgia or Missouri after the dust settles this weekend, then they can get the 12th spot.
  20. With us being a game behind Jawja, we’ve got to win tomorrow. Thankfully we had some help from LSU, but hopefully we can take care of business on our end and get the help we need from LSU and Auburn.
  21. That definitely took some guts by Amani Larry. I thought when Hunter Hines hit into a double play in the 8th when there were ducks on the pond with one out, I thought State was done at that point. Great walkoff win for the Dawgs!
  22. Apparently he missed 7 games with the Nittany Lions last season due to injury, but he led them in rushing in both 2020 and 2021. He was also cleared to play in their bowl game, so I'm thinking his injury was at the beginning/before the season started last year. I think it's a solid get and he'll have two years to play two, so it's not like a one year and done thing with him.
  23. Well the Mississippi State running back room just got a shot in the arm today with the addition of Keyvone Lee out of Penn State. Sounds like an excellent get from the portal.
