Meridian Vs West Lauderdale

Very disappointing. I am at a loss for words.
Agree with CC. Not the same school I graduated from or my children who attended back in the early/mid 2000’s. I am so disheartened to see what has happened to Meridian High. Yes it was once a great high school (the best in Mississippi) for decades. Unfortunately, those days are fading farther into the rear view mirror.

From what I can piece together, there was a fight in the bus line after school.

After that MHS announced that the game would be played with no fans.

WL then said if no fans are allowed then we will cx the game and not play.

Tickets will be refunded.

Obviously, that leaves a lot of unanswered questions. I hate that the two teams did not get a chance to compete on the field and that a relatively few kids caused a game to be cancelled. Reflects really bad on those kids, their parents and the school.

We need a short term “scorched earth” policy to eradicate this from the school and city.

I am not one to usually advocate draconian measures but right now that is what is needed.
Clean this out and let the students that want to learn and the kids that are doing the right things enjoy school and also play the sports that they love to participate in.

Will Hattiesburg @ Meridian take place this week?  With Vance and his shenanigans it just doesn’t seem like a good recipe for a football game.  Maybe that’s the game that doesn’t need any fans.  Thoughts?

Well I would hope so. If you are going to play the game, fans need be there. I believe they can have a good plan in place after dealing with the kids that caused this to happen.

Sports do not need to be high jacked by a few kids. It is not fair to the kids playing or the other students etc. that are doing the right things.

Didn't they have to clear the stadium at halftime of a game last year because someone pulled out a gun?

I imagine the school officials were afraid some of the ones fighting before the game would try to continue/retaliate at the game and in those situations somebody might pull out a gun. Yes, the city has gotten that bad. It is really sad to see.

I agree  Bulldogs4.  Just keep Vance reigned in on the sidelines  and y’all should be good to go.  Maybe he won’t resort to flopping Friday night.
