If you go back and watch the oak Grove game you will see they played hard. Of their 42 pts, 2tds came on busted coverages and the other was a 1 play 1yd run after an int to the goal line. Don't be shocked if HHS gets a win over Meridian this week. If not, I can still see them getting back to 4-4 before that brutal 3 game to close the regular season I hear you Vott. I kinda knew the answer to the question before I asked it. Good luck with Meridian this week.

Don't even get me started on our fans. It's a love-hate with them. Love them because they are truly passionate about supporting the kids and show up every Friday night. Hate them because when it comes to knowing football, they don't have a clue and they gripe and moan about everything if it don't go the right way. They would complain if every colonel of popcorn they got from the concession stand didn't pop or if they only had peanut m-ms but no plain ones. 1

slicklizard
I’m going to put up another chapter of our seasons saga. I’ve almost got it finished. I’ve been pretty involved this week and I think it will be interesting. It’s going to be after Pascagoula as we are going to be tailgating hard tomorrow evening. We don’t get the War Eagles down here on the coast much anymore and we will make the most of it. Lot of our team hasn’t played outside of our stadium so we need to be poised. Officials will keep Pascagoula in it for the first quarter at least. If they hang around and it’s close in the fourth they will make sure we leave with a big L . We need to put a stake in them ASAP. You take your defense on the road. WLOX loves the War Eagles and will be there.I hope we can put on a show. I heard, don’t know if it’s true, that our police chief has developed a soft spot for old busted head. He said he sees something in him and is going to give him a hand up as he pays his debt for fighting in War Eagle Stadium. I plan on doing a Slick top ten in 5A next week too. I think 5A has so much unknown this season there should be plenty to stir the pot with. I plan on being in Pascagoula a couple hours early tomorrow so if anyone wants to shake hands just message me. Everyone be careful going to games tomorrow. This should be the best night of the season for football so far . The roads are going to be busy.
maroontide06
Just be glad it’s not at Gautier. If that were the case, it wouldn’t be just the 1st quarter, but I completely understand where you are coming from. Wayne County should be able to come away with a comfortable win tomorrow night. I-10 is crazy and it’ll only get crazier once they build the Buc-ee’s at Menge, so drive safe on your way to Pascagoula.

Archer
Not surprisingly I came away impressed with Wayne County. Very methodical in their offensive approach and they executed well most of the time. The screen play TD which was nullified by the penalty was a thing of beauty. Obviously, it weighed heavily in the final outcome. I think you’re missing that explosive playmaker and more size up front on both sides but this will be a team to be reckoned with going forward and in the postseason. Hope y’all felt welcomed in Pascagoula and best wishes the rest of the way. Edited September 17, 2022 by Archer Punctuation
Merlin
So region 3-5A May not be as log jammed at the top as thought. Laurel has no defense at all but a all world offense. Any team that holds them below 28 points should beat them. Hell you’re not out of the game apparently even if they score 40 on you. Will make the playoffs cause there are probably 3 teams in district that can’t score 20 in a game. Hattiesburg looks to have lost its season with their 2 qb’s getting hurt and May be in a fight with south jones to see who sucks the least. brookhaven didn’t look good at all in the games they actually played. natchez looks like the best all around team but they need to quit playing teams that havnt had a winning season since their players were born before we can tell for sure. First test will be against west jones. Florence seems improved but likewise played bad teams. Wayne count has been Jekyll and Hyde thus far jury is out on them. probably will make the playoffs. west jones practiced 2 days in 2 weeks due to storms before getting smoked by Madison central to start the year and since then have been trying to get back to having a scored more points on the year than MC scored on them in that one game against teams what wont win 3 games put together. Still likely to make the playoffs.

Good game tonight against two teams striving to get back to where we once were. Tonight WC came up short on their first road trip of the year. I think we have one of the best receivers in the state in #12 Jalen Jones and a couple of explosive backs that are a little undersized but run bigger than they are. You are however correct in your assessment of or guys up front on both sides of the ball. I kick and cuss but Pascagoula had two weeks to prepare for us and looked like it. Everything they did worked after halftime. We looked tired and lethargic. Nothing like the last two weeks. No pop. #12 has to get the ball thrown to him more. He is matrix fast. Wayne needs these kind of games where you are on the road and everything is against you. Half of our team has never played more than thirty minutes from home. Growing pains. I ain’t even mad. I know that was not their best game The saga continues Lewis sims coaches one of these games every three or four years but goes back to being Louie after that. If he can get these kids playing like that in the region they can make some noise History says he’s fired his rounds and is going to smoke a cigarette for awhile.

Just finished watching the replay on youtube. Great game between two squads that really battled hard. Pascagoula did not play that hard against Gautier or Moss Point. Wayne County has a really good team. I do not know how they will do it, but #12 needs the ball more or at least more opportunities. #26 at half-back is really great as well. I was impressed with how hard both teams played and got after it. #1 for Pascagoula was absolutely great as was Parnell. If Pascagoula can get that effort and execution going forward, they will be tough. They looked like a different team. Energy on the sidelines and kids playing hard. Wayne County is no slouch and will compete for their region crown. They have some kinks to work out, but they are a really good team with some great players and a solid Head Football Coach. Laurel, west jones and Wayne county look to be playoff locks. But I wouldn’t be surprised if we have to get into multiple tie breaker scenarios to get seeding. Natchez maybe number 4. slicklizard
I’m intrigued by the matchup between the bricks and will be there. Next chapter of , we’ll I don’t have a title to it yet I will put them out as I can write them and the story comes to me. I try to compose on day per week.We will see where it goes. If there are syntax errors you will just have to deal with them. The rain had just stopped as I slow rolled my truck up the bumpy blacktop lane winding through the pines . WABO1 had worn out a lot of stuff returning to his lifelong home down here on this same ancient trail. My truck was freshly washed and I didn’t want any splash caused by acceleration to put a gray film on the chrome. The silence of movement facilitated by wet pine straw has been the downfall of many a good old boy in the thickets growing stuff. You can’t hear anything moving up on you and your voice carries like talking in church. This was the case as I headed to the front of the house Something huffed on my hand from behind then a wet muzzle “kissed” my palm all in a millisecond. Old man JR had quietly loped up behind me . I turned and faced him .At fourteen his once jet black coat was salt and pepper now as his muzzle was turning white down to an even whiter beard. It seems to be getting lighter every time I see him. The fire of a young buck still burned in his eyes though as he looked at me from head to toe then looked me dead in the eyes with his ears cocked up a little. He gave me the impression of saying “Well , are you ready ? “ JR had seen it all from us at one time or another. The love, the hate, the tears , the fights, the agony, the loneliness, the forgiveness, the love , the redemption , the happiness , the peace and the thankfulness.JR was one of us and time was taking its toll on him too. People said that he was deaf from being around so many gunshots but that wasn’t true. As only the wisdom age can bring, JR heard what he chose to hear from an ever decreasing circle of sources. The high pitch vibrating whine of an electric power tool broke the wet stillness. JR bolted down the hill towards the canebrake in pursuit of something most likely startled by the noise. I pivoted and headed towards the noise and the back of the house. That splash had got my truck dirty. WABO1’s shirtless torso was covered in dust being kicked up from the hand sander he was easing back and forth on a thick slab of wood. I paused upon the concrete that was the floor of this covered porch and the expansive shed behind it. He kept sanding until he reached the far side of the wood and stopped. When he removed the clear glasses on his now dust covered face he squinted from the sweat that ran in his eyes. It looked like a mask from some sci-fi movie with the pristine eye area set against the yellow dust clinging to his beard. Like his old dog, he looked me up and down then in the eye and said “ I see you paid enough attention when you were little not to stand close to a tool being operated without goggles on “Yes and to wash all your stuff before you store it away or you won’t have it for long. “ I shot back. “Did JR say hello to you “ ? He asked. “He got the jump on me but was happy to see me “. I answered. “That old Romeo is starting to show his years. He stumbled the other day bringing those steers up and got kicked down hard. He’s been stiff moving ever since”. He said in a somber tone. That was all he said about it and I really didn’t want to discuss it . That’s the kind of thing you just deal with when nature directs you to. He slapped the smooth piece of wood and said “ They were using these as forms for that house they are building when you turn off the lake road coming in here. I stopped and asked for them if they were not going to re use them. They told me to take what I wanted. Look at that grain in them. I couldn’t let them burn these. You have still got it .The administration there doesn’t deserve a winner like you. Just don’t go to Petal, lol. He looked back own at the wood then back up at me and pointed with his chin towards the area for used up equipment down the hill. I knew his meaning . He was gauging my interest in that damned junked out bus. “Why “ I asked. “ Redemption “ he shot back.” Any redemption I may or may not need doesn’t have anything to do with that damn bucket of rust “ I said chuckling. He smiled and shook his no, “ it’s not about you . I need your help. It’s a reclamation “, he said in a hushed voice. “That’s all you had to say, point me in the right direction “ I quickly stated. His beard of dust parted even more with a big grin. “You had to make me spell it out for you didn’t you “ There is more to this than you are thinking. We will get to it after the game in Ellisville. Your jelly is on that table with the vice in there. Now grab that water hose and spray me off. This humidity is terrible “ I sprayed him down like a show bull with the dust piling up at his now bare feet . He was shaking off like a big dog as I rolled the hose up when a loud sharp metallic crack came from down the hill. Then another one more sharp this time. WABO moved swiftly to jump in the Gator side by side and started it while yelling at me “Let’s go “. We quickly bounced down the hill and were met with JR lumbering up the grade towards us. He wheeled and got in behind us.WABO turned the switch off and silent rolled to where the dilapidated, half orange bus sat with the brush now cleared out and away from it.
