maroontide06
The kickoff times are 4:00 and 7:30 for the Thursday and Friday games, and the kickoff times for Saturday are 12:00, 3:30, & 7:00. Hopefully the state title games won't be in Ontario again this year. That place is just too far north LOL.

Bulldogs4
Egg Bowl is in Oxford so the championship games should be in Starkvegas in 2024. A rotation below would be ideal: 2024-Starkvegas 2025-Oxford 2026-Hattiesburg 2027-Oxford 2028-Starkvegas 2029-Hattiesburg That way over a six year period each college stadium would host the games two times. greenandgoldhawk
I believe they still use “The Vet” in Jackson as part of their 4 sites rotation. Last time it was the Vet’s turn to host, Jackson State ended up hosting the SWAC Championship so they moved it back to Southern Miss for a second year. They never intended to go back to Jackson at all after they started the ole miss/msu rotation. USM was added in 2018 and they got it again in 2019 because both msu and ole miss had hosted a couple times. 2020 it was in Jackson due to something involving covid. Ended up back at USM I believe was a scheduling conflict with ole miss and msu and then was supposed to start a rotation of the 3. Going back to Jackson isn’t supposed to happen it’s just a fallback if there’s issues with the 3 universities.
Dubaction
Actually no. They weren’t in the rotation at all the last time it was played there was the one Covid season.

But USM is a long way from being a contender in the Sunbelt.

Why should the North get two in a row? I don’t think MSU even wants it any more . They went in the hole on electricity alone after the MHSAA got through stuffing their pockets. I wouldn’t doubt if Ole Miss pulled it’s name too with the low turnout last season. Fine by me keep it at USM.Go ahead and sign a twenty year agreement so everyone doesn’t have to wait until the last minute to plan for it. 2

Every game at USM every time it’s been there has had better attendance than the same classification games the times it’s been played at ole Miss or MSU. Higher percentage of the states population less than 1 and a half hours from Hattiesburg therefore easier access to the games for more casual fans. Plus, just being honest, outside of like 5 schools north of I-20 most of the southern teams have better attendance.
Dubaction
I agree. The biased side of me wishes it was at USM every year. Hands down the best atmosphere and best city to host from an accommodation standpoint.

coastfootballfanman
USM is the best venue by a mile in my opinion and should be where it is held yearly in my opinion. It is a great thing for those kids to play in the SEC stadiums but after this year, the rain ruined the field after 7 games it was a mess. Southern has turf, plenty of dining and hotel options. It just checks a lot of boxes. 3

It stated nothing about conflicts with other schools.

You're not sitting at some weird angle and you're actually closer to the field. The thing actually fills up and it makes for an exciting atmosphere. And yes, it checks the boxes from the logistical standpoint as well. I'll even take it a step further in regards to the weather. The state championships have been pleasant to attend in Hattiesburg for December football. Can it get cold in Hattiesburg in December? Sure it can, but it'll be a whole lot more bearable there versus the arctic north.
Bulldogs4
I agree overall the stadium in Hattiesburg is better and it is generally easy to get there. Oxford is so far N it makes it tough. Starkvegas is not quite as bad but those stadiums are not just suited well for HS games. But I suspect that there will be some kind of N/S rotation going forward. It could look like this: 2024-State 2025-Hattiesburg 2026-Hattiesburg 2027-Oxford 2028-Hattiesburg 2029-Hattiesburg That way you are throwing a bone to the N. The kids would occasionally get to play in a SEC venue. We will see what happens. I do think they need to set the venues well in advance and that would make planning much better for all . Here is a solution. (Sarcasm) Since there are 7 classes how bout whoever wins the most from the north/south gets to host the next year. If the north wins 4 or more this yr the title games will be back at Ole Miss or MSU. If the south wins 4 or more they play it at USM
