Columbia Job

Bilderback was making $102,500 this past season at Columbia. Great facility and field with athletes in Columbia.. Sounds like Missy (Chip’s Wife) is making ULM (Head Women’s basketball coach ) a permanent home for awhile. The Catholic leagues in Louisiana are usually the best overall in that state.

Because of it being May and every coach has probably signed a contract for next year, I'd imagine someone is getting promoted.

Yeah, it is really late in the process for sure but for that type of money and program there will be some interest.

Columbia doesn't need to reinvent the wheel.  Whatever it is they've been doing there has worked really well so far.  They've just got to keep the train moving forward and keep their coal car full.  Whatever it is they do needs to be plug and play so that there's no disruptions to anything (RE: West Point).

It will be a big hire in my opinion. Someone who has been a college coach, likely usm or msu ties that is a defensive minded coach..Bilderback has alot of friends in the southern miss circle as well as the state. He will make sure they are left in good hands. I am not sure how he stayed this last year with his wife and kids living that far away. That is tough.

I agree with this to an extent. Part of me believes though, that with him waiting until now to do this, maybe it was strategic so that they give it to one of the current staff members with the timing? This just does not seems like a situation that has popped up in the last month or anything.

If I’m making the decision on hiring the new coach, I’m hiring their defensive coordinator Bo Russum, if he wanted the job. No brainer to me.

I agree. he has ran the defense since the beginning and should be moved up.  I'm sure he learned a lot from bilderback

You are either crazy or clueless if you really think that Chip let Bo run the defense. Bo was never a 5 front cover 3 guy, but Chip loves that style.

coordinators are going to run what the head coaches want them to run.  During the game the coordinators will call the plays unless there is something special the head coach wants run on a particular play.

What about Cluff. Doesn't he have some head coaching experience. I know his son is pretty good for them.

He was head coach at Perry Central for two years. I think he was be a good fit for a year. He only needs one more year to retire and his son is going to be a senior.

In theory that is how it works, in actuality a lot of head coaches call plays on offense or defense. I know for a fact that Bilderback called the defense
