Dawg83
I won’t get to see much or any of these games, leaving for a family vacation on Friday. But an interesting week regardless, will give my thoughts on the lead up and let y’all take it from there. LSU-Ole Miss: I think this could be a heck of a fun game. I am of the belief as we sit here today that LSU is the best team in the West. That said, this is Brian Kelly and his teams are usually far from bulletproof. I am going to take LSU here because I think their front seven is good enough to give Ole Miss trouble, and I think Daniels will be hard to stop. That said, I expect OM to be motivated and for this to be a close game decided pretty late. I’ll take LSU 31-27. State-Bama: look, we’ve seen this movie plenty of times before. No reason to think State can win until they prove it. I’ll take Bama 34-10. Florida-Kentucky: game is in Lexington and UK has had UF’s number recently. Give me the Cats at home. Arkansas-A&M: honestly not sure at all, but kinda leaning Hogs for whatever reason. Georgia-Auburn: I think Georgia wins but it could either be 42=0 or 13-10 and I wouldn’t be shocked. This is an odd UGA team. South Carolina-Tennessee: I like SC in a road upset here. I trust Rattler more than Milton right now. USC-Colorado: I expect a much closer game than the Oregon game. I’ll say USC wins close but I see a path to a CU upset. Until Lincoln Riley decides to field a real defense, they will be vulnerable in spots like this. Notre Dame-Duke: major letdown spot for ND, I am going with the Duke upset. Edited September 27, 2023 by Dawg83
Bulldogs4
LSU is a bit of a Jekyll and Hyde. Two weeks ago they played a perfect game against State. Last week they struggled to beat an average Arkansas team (I know, I know it was a rivalry game). So this week they will probably play a better game (though I doubt they’ll play any game the rest of the year better than the State game). Ole Miss is capable of winning this but I am kind of like 83, I think they will come up short. LSU 41, Ole Miss 37. Bama-State. Same thing with State. Until we prove we can beat Bama I will pick Bama here. Bama 28, State 17. UK has finally shaken the Florida hex. But they have not exactly set the world on fire. Florida definitely has improved but I don’t trust them here either. KY wins an ugly game…20-12. If Auburn were any good, I would pick them here but Georgia wins even though they are only shell of what they were the last two seasons. Georgia 27, Auburn 16. Arkansas-A&M…Here again neither team has been impressive. Another ugly game with A&M eeeking out a win….29-25. Tenn-Scar looks to be another Ugggghhhh game. Scar is decent but give me Tennessee at home. 44-31. Colorado bubble popped last week. SC wins big. 58-35. ND bounces back and deflates Duke in the best game the week (outside LSU-OM). ND 24, Duke 23.
MSTSatchmo
Should be a great game in Oxford. With OM still struggling to run the ball, I’ll go with LSU 31 OM 26 Same old State and Bama. I think State’s defense plays better this week, but gets worn out because the offense can’t stay on the field. Bama 34 State 14 UK over Florida Georgia over Auburn SC over Tennessee Arkansas over A&M USC over Colorado in a shootout Duke over ND
rebmus
It's hard to figure out LSU... are they the team that drilled State or the team in the other couple of games? Vegas has LSU winning so I'll go with LSU. IF Tre Harris (I doubt) comes back healthy enough to contribute... I like Ole Miss's chances. Ole Miss's offense after Harris went down has been pretty MEH. I'm rooting for MSU, smart money is on Bama. I'd love to see an Auburn upset of Georgia to help create more chaos, but I sure wouldn't bet on it. UK is favored over Florida and I may eat crow... I'll go with Florida. I'll go with UT. South Carolina sure puts up great battles, I just don't think they have enough to beat UT. No idea on Arkansas/A&M, A&M I guess. This should be a great close game... watch it be a blowout now that I said that. USC over Colorado should be easy money. I'm rooting for Duke, but I see them keeping the game close for 3 quarters before ND pulls away in the 4th. Bonus pick- USM hosts Texas State while Texas State if favored. Maybe it's an instate homer pick, but I really like this upset pick for USM to win.

Wcchaingang
Part of me wants to say Colorado keeps in close for a while. I can see USC coming out flat and it be interesting for a half or so.

Coach Hall is a good coach and a good person but we know wins and losses are what counts. Losing to Arkansas State was a bad loss. Beating TX State would help stop the bleeding. As I mentioned in another thread the talent level is just not there. A tough row to hoe for the Eagles but a win Saturday would be a good remedy. USC wasn’t great in either half, but they didn’t blow each game open in the second.

I also think USC and Oregon are different kinds of teams. Oregon is more physical and actually plays a little defense. USC has never heard of the word “defense”, although Riley’s offenses are always great. I think Colorado can score on them and keep it interesting, possibly. Bulldogs4
That is why I picked 58-35. CO will score some but USC will score more and gradually pull away.
maroontide06
If Arnett wants a top notch atmosphere for a top notch opponent in Alabama and he gets the top notch atmosphere, the fans ultimately will have done their part. How does he counter that and do his part? How does he change the song and the tune up to something different?
Bulldogs4
Simply put. State needs to man up and beat Bama. In the last nine years only 2014 and 2017 did we play them straight up with a chance to win either game. Otherwise, they have had an easy time with us over the last 15 years. At this point, it is on the players to find a way to win. We will see how it goes tomorrow night.
Dawg83
Point blank, to have any chance of this being close, State has to man up and be the physical team in the trenches that they were expected to be. On both sides of the ball. Haven’t really seen that much yet.
Bulldogs4
Another game that has flown under the radar is the Washington-Arizona game. WA is favored by 18.5. I do think they will win the game but I like AZ to cover the spread. And if De Laura can avoid turning over the ball (admittedly a very difficult expectation) then I think AZ has a chance to win this game. Additionally it is a home game for AZ as well. We will see how it goes.

Arkansas has been destroyed today at the LOS. I am traveling through Arkansas currently and have been listening to their radio guys and it has not been pretty.I think they said they have had 15 negative plays through three and half quarters. That is rough to say the least.
MSTSatchmo
750 yards of offense in one half. Good grief. OM’s offensive line has done a great job, as well as Dart. Daniels puts the ball on the spot as well as anyone in the country. We will see who makes the best halftime adjustments.
s1nglewing
That shouldn't be a TD
s1nglewing
Ole Miss finally played four quarters of football, offensively... with just barely enough defense - if you want to call it that.
hasbeen67
Hotty Toddy. Wouldn't it be great if we beat LSU and Bama on the same day? Not looking good for the second part.

rebmus
The Ole Miss offense is very different when Tre Harris is healthy. Dart had 439 total yards rushing/passing along with 5 combined TDs which is a strong game. Daniels had 513 total yards and 5 combined TDs. He was straight money today. Those two "defenses" today though- LULZ.
MSTSatchmo
Huge win for OM. It keeps them right in the mix for the SECW. I couldn’t believe how bad the LSU defense looked, but credit to OM’s offense. They were finally able to run the ball, and Rebmus is right. Harris makes a huge difference. It seemed to open up the offense. The play calling was great. I think LSU made some really questionable decisions late though. The KO from the 50. Wth. After they got the ball back at 42-40. They ran their normal offense and had a huge play to almost near midfield. Then they went conservative with the next 3 play calls.
rebmus
Yeah, that LSU kickoff decision was one of the dumbest calls I've seen. Keep in mind, I'm over 50 and have seen a LOT of dumb calls watching Ole Miss and MSU over these years... so it's saying something to be one of the dumbest calls I've seen.
