maroontide06
Does Picayune bounce back this week or do they get skunked again? If they do bounce back is it enough to secure a win? Share your thoughts on this one.
coastfootballfanman
I think Picayune definitely bounces back. Now, does that translate to a win? That I am not sure about. I do not believe Jackson Academy probably has much experience with stopping the type of offense Picayune runs, so I think that plays into their favor. However, JA has some really, really talented athletes and playmakers offensively as well. I think it’s a good game, but Jackson Academy wins in the end. I’m just hoping the gravitational pull doesn’t keep us at rock bottom this week. We need to play cleaner football and score points. Gulfport just made everything we do look obsolete because nothing worked. I believe Gulfport is as good or better than advertised and they will make a deep run in 7A. I will go out on that limb with you and say that Gulfport is legit and more than likely poised to repeat. 35-0 over Picayune is as impressive as it gets. If we would have been able to go blow for blow with Gulfport and lose it at the end I wouldn't be too concerned, but that did not happen at all. Picayune needs some self reflection this week. Rawcones
I see alot of angry fans on fb voicing their opinions on the offense that's been in picayune forever.

I don’t know what’s on fb (don’t have one), but getting clocked two weeks in a row by teams that Picayune normally can hang with probably isn’t sitting very well. If you remember back when Russell Mitchell was OC at Picayune back when we went on the run from ‘11-‘13 we had the shotgun along with the normal offense. No offensive adjustments were made against Gulfport or JA, so I think that’s why you are seeing the frustration.

I’m not a fan of any offense where you can’t adjust if you get behind on the scoreboard

maroontide06
Why Cody refuses to be multiple on offense, I don’t have the answer. But when you’re playing big boy football like we’ve played the last two weeks, you’ve got to be able to overcome adversity which is something we haven’t been able to do. Hightide
Well first off. Picayune just played 2 damn good football teams. JA is most probably the best high school football team i have ever seen play. They are 300 plus across the oline very balanced and well coached. Picayune was very over matched and never quit they got heart. Picayune oline and qb are very young and green but they are going to get better. I saw they started using some of the other running backs and running the power and sweeps more in the second half and it was working way better than going inside. IMO Dennis is a great rb but he looks off right now maybe he he isn't being patient and finding the hole idk. Everything needs work right now including coaching IMO offense play calling needs work doesn't look like any strategy to set up the defenses at all. hasbeen67
Some of the bigger schools are basically like JUCO's now. They're bringing in players from across their metropolitan areas, MAIS and MHSAA.
ScaryTerry
Was this game ever really close? I think the early turnovers against Gulfport really changed that game but what happened this week? Is JA really that good!?

Chunky6617
Well fans definitely know what they are talking about, so Picayune’s coaching staff needs to listen to them and do exactly what the fans say they need to be doing.

Don’t be a smartass. Go back to Mize and focus on the consolidation efforts of Smith County. Since it’s your boys senior year it won’t affect you whatsoever. Get it done.

Thankfully it’s not too late to get things corrected. If every opponent Picayune plays from here on out follows the Gulfport and JA blueprint and the same results occur, then our coaching staff needs a “Come to Jesus” meeting. But that should apply to any coaching staff regardless of where they coach.

Picayune will probably beat Ocean Springs but then Poplarville comes calling to end non region play.
coastball Posted yesterday at 01:43 PM Share Posted yesterday at 01:43 PM Picayune will be just fine after looking at their upcoming schedule. Poplarville will be next real test and PRC will be up for that game.

I would agree with you that Picayune would be just fine if that had happened. Maybe they will be, but what happens when they face a championship caliber 6A team? These are just questions that I ask myself. I don't answer them, but I kind of look at it as food for thought.
